Chilean cherries bid farewell to Chinese markets and retailers

The situation in the main fruit markets and supermarkets in China has gradually changed; the Chilean cherry, which literally stole the show for several weeks, especially during the run-up to the Chinese New Year, is beginning to say goodbye until next season.

Although a small amount of Chilean cherries (8 containers) has yet to arrive in the Asian country, which should arrive on February 26 aboard the Seaspan Brightness ship, the shelves of premium supermarkets and fruit stores are filled with other fruit species, including strawberries, table grapes, pineapples, oranges, etc.

This marks the end of a new cherry campaign that was marked by an early Chinese New Year and the reestablishment of logistics, after two complex seasons in which the pandemic and strict Covid-19 measures in China put the Chilean cherry industry to the test.
