Harvista™ 1.3 SC, a product used in apples, pears, is now available to improve the fruit set potential of cherries.
AgroFresh has just announced some excellent news regarding the labelling of its Harvista pre-harvest technology, which has been extended for use in cherry blossoms. (authorized by SAG nº4253).
This technology, which until now has allowed the harvest window for apple crops to be extended, is also available to improve the fruit set potential of cherry trees, helping to improve the productive potential of orchards and income for their growers.
“When applied to cherry blossoms, Harvista interrupts the negative impacts of ethylene and allows more flowers to develop into fruit, thereby improving fruit set and yield potential which translates into increased revenue.”, explained Denny Vidal, Commercial Manager of AgroFresh Chile.
Growers have reported a significant yield impact with two applications of Harvista at 10% and 50% open flowers.
The results are supported by trials carried out in Chile during the 2020 season, in which positive results were obtained in fruit setting and increased size in the Kordia and Regina varieties. Fruit setting was more efficient in plants treated with Harvista.
The following graph shows the size distribution of the fruits at harvest in the Kordia variety, where the fruits from trees treated with Harvista obtained a size distribution more concentrated in larger sizes.

With the extension of the Harvista 1.3 SC label, AgroFresh completes the package of integrated solutions for cherry cultivation, from the field to post-harvest.
