Fruit quality analysis

It is of utmost importance that each production unit be evaluated, season after season, based on parameters of maturity, mineral content, susceptibility to physiological disorders, etc. With this information, technicians can quickly make a reliable initial segregation of the fruit's potential for the various programs.

Conventional qualitative techniques to determine contamination with phytopathogenic fungi such as B. cinerea or G. candidum and others capable of rapid quantification through techniques based on molecular biology, qPCR, adding speed in the response to our clients.

Analysis of pathogen inoculum levels on plant tissue

Sampling is carried out during flowering periods and/or other fruit development times pre-established for each species and analyzed based on percentages of infected tissues or pathogens are quantified by qPCR. Each species and/or variety has a specific protocol in relation to which tissue to evaluate and the comparison standard.

Fungicide sensitivity monitoring program for those pathogens that cause the greatest problems according to the cultivated species, in order to advise on the generation of anti-resistance management and programs, with less impact on the environment and cheaper with equal or better efficacy.

We have equipment to perform classical identification through taxonomy and also technology for genetic analysis, for cases where the traditional method is not sufficient.

In addition, the team of plant pathologists and biotechnologists is trained to establish relationships between species, and other genetic studies.

Project that aims to develop a prototype service for detecting the level of resistance to fungicides, aimed at serving the national fruit sector. Although the incidence of fungal diseases is transversal with respect to fruit and crop production in Chile, this initiative focuses on addressing the problem in five species: table grape, cherry, blueberry, lemon and orange trees.

The study lays the technical foundations for the development of a technique for quantifying B. cinerea and G. candidum in peaches and cherries and packing lines through qPCR; the idea is to integrate early field monitoring results that allow us to predict the behavior of the fruit in refrigerated storage.
