Maule has $3.000 million to rehabilitate irrigation channels through CNR

Maule has $3.000 million to rehabilitate irrigation channels through CNR

The deadline is August 1st.

The Seremi of Agriculture of the Maule region, Ana Muñoz, and the Zonal Coordinator of the National Irrigation Commission (CNR), Claudio Cortés, launched in Rauco the special competition of the Law for the promotion of irrigation aimed at rehabilitating irrigation canals.

“We wanted to announce on the ground, with the CNR zonal coordinator, that the bases of the special competition for minor works are already in place, which will allow water user organizations to clear their channels and make urgent repairs that will allow irrigation in spring.” said the Seremi.

He added that this is a priority for the Ministry of Agriculture and called on farmers to obtain information from their irrigation organizations: “We need farmers to come to an agreement with their communities and associations to apply for this competition because, in addition to alleviating the productive damage on the farms, we urgently need to restore the irrigation systems. This is as important as repairing roads and bridges. If we do not guarantee that the water runs, we will not be able to develop the productive rehabilitation plan, so this is one of our priorities,” said Ana Muñoz.

Emergency works

The zonal coordinator of CNR, Claudio Cortés, reported that this competition corresponds to the special N°33-2023 of the competition calendar of the Law for the promotion of irrigation, for minor works, and covers two regions. "The competition has 5,000 million pesos for the Maule and O'Higgins regions, of which 3,000 million are for Maule. Project folders can be submitted until August 1 and the works to be financed are all those that allow the canals to be unloaded and made operational so that water can circulate when the irrigation season begins."

“It is important to keep in mind that these are emergency works, they are not permanent arrangements because the priority is to ensure that they can have irrigation starting in September. It is also essential that they are registered by us, which is why we have been working on the ground for several weeks with irrigation organizations to identify their critical points.” Claudio Cortés pointed out, calling on people to contact CNR if they have not filled out the extra-property affectation form.
