VSeveral Smartcherry partners were present at the event held at the Intercontinental Hotel in Santiago. We spoke with them.
On August 16 and 17, Biocontrol Latam was held, an event organized by New AG Intercontinental, which brought together biocontrol pioneers to accelerate product development and market access in Latin America.
The event was attended by nearly 40 speakers, a group made up of leading experts currently working in the entire spectrum of development, regulation and commercialization of biological products. Attendees came to the event from Argentina, Colombia, Brazil, Chile, Mexico, Paraguay, the United States, Italy, Spain, France, the United Kingdom, India, China, Peru, among others.
«In Peru we already have an infinite ceiling of agricultural exports in very important crops and the current trend is the use of biological products; biological products are no longer the future, they are the present, since they guarantee us very interesting characteristics such as safety and no maximum residue limit., that they are exempt from this characteristic and it is important to be at the forefront and know new alternatives of biological control for the different crops that we have in our country," explained Liz Shella Tarazona, from Agro Advice Peru, who attended the event.
On one side of the conference room there was a space for the stands of the different companies that offered their biosolutions, including several Smartcherry partners.
«For us as a company, it is very important to participate in this type of fairs and congresses, because we can promote the products we have, especially because we participate a lot in the grape market, in fungicides because we have our flagship product, Ecoswing, which is a fungicide for the control of botrytis, penicillium, among others, in table grapes and other fruit trees. Given the relevance that the issue of zero-waste products or biocontrol has been having now, it is very important for us that everyone can learn about these types of tools», said Andrea Torm, Zonal Quinta and Metropolitan Region Gowan, a company that offers sustainable and comprehensive solutions for crop protection and production.
Bioinsumos Nativa, a biotechnology firm created in 2002 dedicated to the development, production and marketing of organic agricultural inputs, also participated in Biocontrol Latam 2022. Its Technical Manager, Walter Hettich, highlighted the relevance of the event: «It allows us to bring together the industry today, mainly in the biocontrol industry, and to know for sure what is happening today worldwide; it is a very favorable opportunity for us as a Chilean industry to be able to participate in this type of event because we can be up to date with what is happening today in 2022 and what is coming in the future.«.
Another Smartcherry partner that was present was MipAgro, a company with 20 years of experience in Chile, dedicated to the import, development and marketing of agricultural, organic and Zero Waste technology inputs: «For MipAgro it is very important to participate in order to be able to show products that we already have certified as insecticides and fungicides. It is also very important for us to publicize the results that we have obtained over many years of development with these products and to transmit confidence to the client that they are using cutting-edge products», explained Andrés Leiva, R&D Department Manager MipAgro.
Adama, world leaders in crop protection, was also present and it was Gonzalo Ugarte, Coordinator of Biosoluciones Adama Chile, who spoke about the event:«The importance of being here is to make ourselves known about all the capabilities that we have installed in Chile and that the company is promoting day by day to boost our portfolio of biosolutions. Today all companies are growing in this area, producers are demanding it, the market, our large consumers are demanding zero-waste fruit and in response to this demand, Adama is listening and responding.»
FMC, a company that today offers a wide and complete line of agricultural solutions, was another of the participants in the Biocontrol Latam 2022 event: "It is very important for us to be able to participate in events of this type, since FMC is getting very involved in the biologicals area, it has just made the purchase of an important biologicals company at a global level, therefore it is very important for us to be in this type of instances showing the technologies that we have to offer.", said Ignacio Díaz, Metropolitan Region and Fifth FMC Zone.
Finally, Rodrigo Carvallo, Development and Technical Manager for the northern area of SummitAgro, also referred to the event that brought together pioneers in biocontrol in Chile: "This meeting has been extremely interesting to discuss in depth the power and evolution that the different tools have had over the years. We at SummitAgro also have Bionativa as a representative, we have several products in "The portfolio of those who are currently generating very important solutions for agriculture," concluded the company dedicated to the sale and marketing of agricultural inputs.
Biocontrol Latam 2022 was a huge success and achieved its goal of bringing together the different players in biosolutions, an agricultural trend that is here to stay.
