More than $880 million for non-INDAP farmers affected by water shortage in Maule

The program for delivering checks for $300,000 to non-INDAP farmers affected by water shortages in the region is 95,89% ahead, serving 2,943 producers to date with a state contribution of $882,900,000.

The program to deliver checks for $300,000 to non-INDAP farmers affected by water shortages in the region is 95,89% ahead, serving 2,943 producers to date with a state contribution of $882,900,000. This is one of the measures of the Siembra por Chile plan, which aims to help producers with money to purchase animal feed, bee feed, supplies to improve their irrigation systems, among other items.

This was reported by the Seremi of Agriculture, Ana Muñoz, who pointed out that the region has a significant water deficit of 21% to date compared to a normal year, which is why this program is of great importance.

Ana Muñoz, Secretary of Agriculture for the Maule region.

“We are very pleased because we have made 95% progress in the delivery of public resources that we allocate to help non-INDAP farmers affected by water shortages according to the land registry we compiled with the municipalities. We have delivered more than 880 million and served more than 2,900 farmers. We only have two municipalities left to complete these deliveries that we are making with the mayors through their municipal teams. We know that climate change is present, that drought affects producers, in fact despite the rainy winter we have a deficit of 21% of water compared to a normal year. That is why we are happy to have been able to contribute in some way to alleviate the difficulties that farmers have in maintaining their crops in this context of scarcity.”

Deliveries began in August in the commune of Retiro, where the provincial delegate of Linares, Priscila González; the mayor Rodrigo Ramírez and the Seremi of Agriculture, Ana Muñoz, accompanied 40 producers who received their checks for $300,000. In total, this commune benefited 250 non-INDAP farmers for a total investment of $75 million.

In Maule, the Government, through the Ministry of Agriculture, allocated $920,700,000 to benefit more than 3,069 farmers who are not INDAP users, thanks to agreements signed between the Undersecretariat of Agriculture and the municipalities, as a measure of the Siembra por Chile plan.
