There is no doubt that within the cherry cycle, orchard management is a fundamental step. The way we manage our orchards, crops and fruits will determine the results of a season and the quality of the production.

Although there are different precautions that producers can take depending on the stage of formation in which the orchard is found, special care must be taken when it is in the first stage or year 1, as it is also known. This is explained by the agricultural engineer and advisor to the Avium team, Bruno Tapia, who shared some key points.

The first thing to consider is the nutrition of the orchards, which must be taken care of at all times. On the other hand, everything related to phytosanitary programs must be coordinated until March, since the axes need to be formed, whether two or one, regardless of the training system being used. This is essential, since it is in this structure where the branches of the tree are inserted.
