Responding to the needs of the cherry market, where the excellence of the fruit is a crucial factor, at PatagoniaBio we developed FARTUM® ANTICRACKING, a liquid fertilizer and biostimulant based on seaweed, silicon, potassium, phosphorus, zinc and other microelements contained in algae, formulated to reinforce the cell walls of the cherry, giving greater mechanical resistance to the tissues and counteracting cracking, a physiological disorder caused by excess rain and humidity.
Silicon is essential for giving strength to cell walls and gives consistency to the fruit pulp.

The complexing effect of our seaweed extracts allows minerals to penetrate the fruit much more quickly and, as there are more soluble solids, the water content is reduced, allowing for greater resistance to cracking and other damage.
Being specially formulated for field applications, FARTUM® ANTICRACKING does not leave traces or chemical residue, does not change the color or flavor of the fruit, does not alter the natural process of photosynthesis and has no deficiency.
For foliar application, it is recommended to apply at least 24 hours before rain and repeat every 7 days, using 6 l/ha from the beginning of veraison. The distribution of the product must be homogeneous and cover 100% of the plant. In case of rain, repeat application within the following 24 hours.
In trials carried out with the Agricultural Research and Development Center (CER) on Bing variety cherry trees, to evaluate splitting, it was concluded that treatment with FARTUM® ANTICRACKING increased the resistance to fruit cracking when exposed to a simulation of pre-harvest rain. FARTUM® ANTICRACKING controlled the % cracking up to 2.5 hours of immersion, even when evaluated one hour after immersion.

Conclusion: Since immersion is a drastic measure to evaluate the incidence and severity of cracking associated with pre-harvest rains, with these results it is possible to conclude that FARTUM® ANTICRACKING would increase cracking resistance under field conditions.
