Ceres Imaging held a successful field day in partnership with Olivos Riego

In a joint effort to boost efficiency in agriculture, Ceres Imaging and Olivos Riego held an exciting field day dedicated to exploring new ways to optimize irrigation, especially in cherry cultivation.

The event brought together agricultural technology experts and farmers interested in improving their irrigation practices in a context where every drop of water counts.

The initiative was led by Sebastián Divin, Customer Success Representative of Ceres Imaging, who highlighted the importance of the collaboration between the two companies. “The idea that we developed together with the irrigation company, Olivos, was based on the irrigation and technology approach, with different tools ranging from irrigation controls from the shed, soil moisture probes, micro tensiometers and aerial images of how they can help us to manage irrigation more efficiently, in order to irrigate better, just and necessary, and thus be able to correct problems quickly, which is key,” said Divin.

One of the key points of this collaboration was the application of these technologies to cherry cultivation. Divin explained: “In the world of cherries, the race is very short, because we have only a few days before harvest, where irrigation is key, and the fertigation that accompanies this irrigation is also key. So we wanted to delve a little deeper into that, into how the different tools go towards making our irrigation efficient.”

During the field day, attendees had the opportunity to witness live demonstrations of irrigation monitoring and control tools, as well as aerial image capture to assess crop health.

Farmers present also expressed their enthusiasm for the possibility of implementing these technologies in their cherry orchards to improve irrigation efficiency and ultimately increase the quality and quantity of the crop.
