Fertilizantes del Pacífico SA (Ferpac) is a Chilean company that, during its 10 years of existence, has been dedicated to the development and formulation of solutions for agriculture. Within the wide range of products developed, it has nutritional correctors, amendments, biostimulants, biofortifiers and biopesticides.
“Ferpac was born as a vertical integration of the business of distribution of inputs, which soon became an important player in the national industry, starting to participate in other international markets such as Argentina, Bolivia and Peru. The proximity of the company to the markets and the close relationship with the end user allows us to deliver effective, fast and competitive solutions to the needs of our clients,” says Andrés Puelma, general manager of Ferpac.
Within the strategy of expansion and consolidation of new markets, the subsidiary Ferpac Perú was founded in 2022. “To meet our ambitious goals in these two seasons, it has been crucial to have a portfolio of quality products, to know the needs of our focus customers very closely, and finally, to work hand in hand with outstanding advisors,” says Hugo Pérez, general manager of Ferpac Perú.
RESEARCH IN BIOLOGICAL PRODUCTS
With Ferpac's growth in the agricultural world, the need to provide sustainable solutions for agriculture is detected. That is why, in 2022, the organization created the R&D&I (Research, Development and Innovation) department.
«Today, agriculture faces new challenges related to climate change and water scarcity. These factors affect the quality of the fruit, such as its condition and size.. "Today, we have to add the requirement for zero-waste inputs. It is on all these points that we are working as a company," adds Sergio Fernández, technical manager of Ferpac, explaining the importance of research and the creation of new solutions for agriculture.
Likewise, Romina Almasia, a molecular biotechnology engineer and M.Sc. Leader of R&D&I and regulation of biological products at Ferpac, explains that “generating the need to have biological alternatives that demonstrate their efficacy in the field is responding to the need to be able to control pests and diseases from a more biological and comprehensive basis.”
Felipe León, external advisor to Ferpac, also joins this team of professionals to help outline the products in the Ferpac portfolio: “My role in the project is to add new products, as well as new uses, crops, pests and diseases to our range of Ferpac biopesticides.”
Ferpac's extensive experience in creating solutions for agriculture, using microorganisms and other natural resources, has made the company stand out in an increasingly demanding market.
“Agro Puelma’s experience and closeness to its customers allows us to constantly recognize and identify their new needs, which we can quickly transmit to Ferpac’s R&D department, seeking immediate solutions, generating a relevant difference with respect to the competition, since we are one step ahead in innovation and development,” says Esteban Salas, commercial manager of Agro Puelma.
On the other hand, Francisco Ureta, technical manager of EXSER, comments that “it has been very good to work with Ferpac, it is a very close company and easy to reach through all its channels. We have a good relationship, since they are responsible and present people.”
Ferpac has gained significant recognition within the agricultural market, thanks to its advances in research, delivering more environmentally friendly solutions. Its future goal is to continue strengthening ties with its customers, in addition to delivering cutting-edge biological solutions both nationally and internationally.
