Fruit Logistica 2023: Key platform to strengthen international alliances

With the attendance of more than 120 representatives of Chilean fruit companies, “Fruits From Chile” is present at Fruit Logistica 2023.

A key event for the Chilean fresh fruit sector, as it marks the first meeting between the different actors in the fresh fruit export chain in 2023.

The national participation is organized by ProChile and the Association of Fruit Exporters of Chile AG (ASOEX), who this year have decided to double the dimensions of the pavilion for the 2022 edition, in order to mark a greater presence of the industry and Chilean products. Thus, with a pavilion of 297 square meters, Chile will promote its fruit export offer, while offering a space where Chilean exporters can meet face to face with buyers, retailers, distributors and importers from various parts of the world, but especially from European markets.

From 8 to 10 February, thousands of players in the fruit sector will meet at Fruit Logistica, where they will not only be able to learn about new varieties, sustainable packaging, data-based production controls, new technologies and innovations for production and export processes, and new services, but they will also enjoy presentations by global experts and establish business contacts. Europe is an important destination for Chilean fresh fruit exports, and Germany is a major consumer of Chilean products.

“Today we have consumers who are increasingly more informed about what they want and the products they seek to consume. Likewise, in Germany and around the world there is a growing trend towards environmental awareness, emphasizing the importance of taking sustainable measures in the industry. For ProChile it is important to be present at this fair together with ASOEX, incorporating and considering the importance of these new challenges for Chilean fresh fruit and reinforcing all the attributes that characterize national agri-foods: innovation, quality and safety in food production,” said Germán Vergara, Commercial Director of ProChile in Germany.

Another relevant aspect of this event is that, for ASOEX, it is an opportunity to strengthen alliances with other international organizations in order to address common issues. It is also worth noting that the 2023 version of Fruit Logistica will be the first on the European continent in which Iván Marambio participates as president of ASOEX, after assuming this leadership in September 2022.

“Fruit Logistica is the major European event that kicks off 2023, and which coincides with the development of our fruit export season, and therefore, it is the opportunity to inform our clients and consumers about it. A message that this 2022-2023 season is positive, because we have very good quality fruit, in good volumes, and supported by logistics that has gradually recovered its normal operation,” Marambio pointed out.

He added: “But perhaps the most important thing is that it offers us the space to meet with fruit and fresh produce organizations from different parts of the world, with whom we will share those issues that affect us across the board and those opportunities in order to address them in a joint manner. One of our strategic points as ASOEX is to move towards greater unity with other associations and organizations at a local and international level, which is why the opportunity offered by Fruit Logistica is key, where we have already planned meetings with the International Kiwi Organization (IKO), the South African Table Grape Industry (SATI), the World Apple and Pear Association (WAPA), the Southern Hemisphere Fresh Fruit Association (Shaffe) and the World Citrus Organization, among others.”

Finally, it should be noted that, in this 2023 version of this fair, the Chilean ambassador to Germany, María Magdalena Atria, will also participate, along with German Vergara, Commercial Director of ProChile in Germany and Josefa Urresti, Commercial Assistant of ProChile in the same country. Also present are the president of the Kiwi Committee, Carlos Cruzat; the executive director of the Blueberry Committee, Andrés Armstrong; the executive director of the Cherry Committee, Claudia Soler; the manager of the Citrus Committee, Monserrat Valenzuela; the Marketing director of ASOEX for Asia and Europe, Charif Christian Carvajal, and Ignacio Caballero, Marketing director of Asoex.
