On December 25, the government announced that daily updates on the virus would no longer be published.
Logistics in China is beginning to take a new direction, with a positive outlook for the population and a more fluid reactivation of markets. This is because the Chinese Government has indicated that, as of January 8, it will eliminate most of its restrictions to control COVID-19.
Among the most notable changes is the reduction in quarantine periods, which are currently 5 days in a hotel and 3 at home. A new way of referring to the virus (Novel Coronavirus Infection), with the aim of conveying a less alarming message about the severity of the disease. And finally, the downgrading of the disease to a “Class B” disease.
In addition to the elimination of restrictions as of January 8, the Immigration Administration of the Chinese Government has also optimized measures, such as accepting applications for passports for tourism purposes again, as well as the resumption and extension of travel visas, port visas, transit visas and temporary permits to enter the country.
It is also worth remembering that as of December 25, 2022, the Chinese Government indicated that they will no longer provide daily updates on the Coronavirus situation and that those resources will be diverted to treatments for the disease.
The measures taken have led to a positive movement in terms of logistics, as a significant increase in the willingness to travel is seen among Chinese citizens. An example of this is the travel willingness index between Beijing and Sanya (a classic holiday destination). A significant jump in travel willingness can be seen during the month of December, especially after the removal of restrictions.
