Three ships have already arrived in China with Chilean cherries

During week 50, the Kota Lestari arrived in Shanghai on December 12, with a delay of 1 day. On the other hand, HMM Blessing, which had an ETA of December 16 to Hong Kong, week 50, has been delayed until December 22, that is, at least 6 days late. This ship carries the equivalent of 591 containers (almost 11 mm of kilos).

The weather has caused delays in the arrival of some maritime shipments of cherries to the Asian country; this was confirmed by port executives in conversations with our correspondents in China, who also pointed out that the truckers' strike that took place in our country contributed to this delay.

Due to delays, there is currently little fruit on the market and last week less than 10 containers were opened daily. The quality was generally good to normal, and no major problems were observed. As for buyers, a decrease was observed due to the rise in Covid-19 infections, after the lifting of health restrictions, however, this is expected to normalize shortly.

The first and second ships that arrived were joined by the Wanhai ship, which arrived at the end of the week, specifically on December 18 in Shanghai with 122 containers of cherries. Seaspan Oceania will arrive in Shanghai on December 20, if everything goes well, week 51, with the equivalent of 185 containers. That is, to date there are 3 ships that have arrived: Seaspan Brightness, Kota Lestari and Wanhai.

For week 51, between December 19 and 25, another 3 ships are expected to arrive in ports.

-22 December: Blessing to Hong Kong, equivalent to 591 containers.

-23 December: Navigare Collector to Hong Kong with equivalent of 706 containers.

-25 December: Kota Loceng to Shanghai, with an equivalent of 222 containers.

In total, during this week they will arrive 1.519 containers; this is an interesting fact to analyze because it is possible to see how the arrival of fruit is concentrated. It should be considered that this season, as it is developing, without major logistical or COVID problems, probably the two most important factors will be the concentration of fruit and, of course, the quality. 

Without going any further, between December 22 with HMM Blessing and January 1, with the ship Manzanillo Express, that is, between mid-week 51 and beginning of week 1, a significant, concentrated volume will arrive at the first port in China, equivalent to 3,274 containers in 6 warehouses.
