Several Smartcherry suppliers participated with stands at the event, which brought together nearly 900 people, including producers, exporters, leaders and key players in the cherry industry from all corners of the world. The last edition was held in 2019 and brought together more than 700 professionals.
The new version of the Global Cherry Summit, which took place on April 19 at the Sun Monticello conference center in San Francisco de Mostazal, was a huge success.
The welcome speech at the event organized by the Yentzen Group and the ASOEX Cherry Committee was given by Cristián Tagle, president of said Committee, who delivered a message in the midst of a recent complex cherry campaign: “What a season, what a season we have had, I cannot remember a more difficult one”; he added: “Together, all together we can contribute to solving the obstacles we face.”

The Global Cherry Summit provided relevant information on the significant growth in cherry cultivation in our country, offered informative talks on the marketing of this fruit in supermarkets in the Asian giant, the need and opportunity to diversify markets, marketing and communications strategies, as well as important discussion panels on the logistical challenges of the cherry industry.
The most relevant topics included:
-Analysis of export figures in the southern hemisphere.
-The European cherry market: How can we continue to grow?
-The North American cherry market
-The Chinese market, new challenges, new opportunities
-Analysis of the fresh fruit logistics situation
The event organizers announced that you will soon be able to find the Global Cherry Summit presentations on their website.

Smartcherry at Goblal Cherry Summit
In addition to the activities that took place throughout the day inside the Sun Monticello conference center, the event organizers set up two tents for the stands of companies that offered different solutions for cherry production. From biostimulants to packaging, humidifying chambers, among others.
Among the participating companies were several Smartcherry partners, who highlighted the relevance of the Global Cherry Summit event.
“It is always good to be exposed, for clients or future clients to see us, it is a good way to reach clients that we may not have reached yet”, said Juan Pablo Calvo, General Manager, Sociedad Comercial Terra Verde, commercial representative of FrostBoss, a company specialized in frost control solutions and offering the quietest and most efficient frost control tower on the market.
Cristian Torres, Zonal Chief of the Sixth Southern Region of M&V, distributors of agricultural inputs, and technical advisors, for his part, highlighted the presence of the event: “It is very good to be present, because we are meeting the farmers again; it had been difficult for us due to the pandemic to be able to meet and find out a little about what each one is doing with the prices that have been given this season and to project towards the future.”
Another of Smartcherry's partners that was present at the event was Bioamérica, a company dedicated to developing cutting-edge solutions, biostimulants, nutritional correctors, among others: “It is very important for us to participate in an event like this, which was not held in person two years ago; to be able to share, to see familiar faces, farmers, other companies and, of course, to be able to listen to the exhibitors,” explained Fernanda Escobar, Product Manager of Bioamércia.
Roberto Johow, Voen Covers Representative for South America, also highlighted the event, in which he participated for the first time: “These events are very well organized and they also generate a tremendous concentration of clients, farmers and people who are in the same industry, being able to exchange opinions, see faces of people you haven’t been able to see for a long time and everything is concentrated here, so it’s very interesting, we get the most out of it.”
Corteva Agriscience also participated with a stand and part of its technical team at the Global Cherry Summit: “We appreciate seeing each other again, meeting our producers again, our friends in the industry. It is very important for us as Corteva, which is also a company that was founded in 2019, so we have had to deal with a large part of our history in the pandemic, to show ourselves again, to refresh our memory that we have this new name, that we are a new company, and to meet our clients, colleagues and friends again.”, said Constanza Lozano, Market Developer Corteva Seventh region, Maule north.
Agrocompra, the first marketplace for the national agroindustry, could not be absent; a company that was practically born in the pandemic and that today joins the in-person event: “We have been very present through social media, but the truth is that these types of events, which have not been held for a few years due to the pandemic, are very necessary; we have been received very well by farmers, they see that we are contributing to agriculture with more efficiency, more information, we have received several congratulations from them, so we are happy,” said Javier Kaulen, Founding Partner and General Manager of Agrocompra.
Two other Smartcherry partner companies that were at the Global Cherry Summit were Stoller and Quimetal. Both of them referred to the importance of participating in the event.
“Stoller has participated in this event regularly, it is important for us to be here, for the producers to feel the support of the company, as I said, for Stoller it is important to be here and we hope it continues to be that way,” explained Paula Vargas, technical zone of Stoller Seventh Region.
“This is like the cherry festival in Chile, most of the people who come are from the production side, agricultural managers, field managers, so it is a tremendous plus to make our company and our products even more known,” detailed Romané Soto, Quimetal technical zone Sixth region.
Agrofresh, a world leader in post-harvest technologies, joined in the praise: “Being at this event is very important for us, because after apples for Chile, cherries are the second product that we are providing services to. We have a fully dedicated team where we are constantly bringing new technologies to the sector,” said Narciso Vivot, Commercial Director for Latin America at Agrofresh.
Juan Villarroel, Pace International Sales Coordinator for Latin America, Sumitomo Chemical's post-harvest area, said: “It is very important for us to be able to participate in this event because it is like a reunion of what we had been doing before. Many people we had not seen for years are back here and, therefore, it means that we are once again returning to the normality of what we were used to, the relationship with clients, direct assistance and friendship above all.”
Finally, Viveros Copequén was also present; Franco Sannazzaro, Manager of the company, spoke about this: “It is important, it is certainly the largest Summit in terms of cherries, we are protagonists in the cherry market and we hope to continue being so, so logically it is 'the event' in which one has to be, to share, especially after returning to face-to-face events after two years; it is clear that there was a lack of an impressive influx of public and, the truth is, it is always good to be able to see each other again,” Sannazzaro concluded.
