Fontelis® It is a broad-spectrum fungicide for the effective control of phytopathogenic fungi such as botrytis and alternaria in cherry trees.
Belonging to the subgroup of pyrazole-carboxamides, Fontelis® has a thiophene ring in its molecular structure with a sulfur molecule attached to its aliphatic tail. This allows for faster penetration into fungal cells.
Penthiopyrad It acts on pathogens by inhibiting the enzyme succinate dehydrogenase (SDH), affecting the process of cellular respiration; blocking the ability of mitochondria to produce energy for the fungus and finally causing its self-destruction.
This characteristic, together with its high lipophilicity, gives it good resistance to rain washing (PLP 1 hour) and a powerful post-infection healing activity of up to 48 hours.
Fontelis® acts preventively by inhibiting spore germination and mycelium growth. Curative control during the incubation phase of the fungus is manifested by the inhibition of the development of the germ tube and the destruction of any mycelium that may have formed.
After applying penthiopyrad, a portion of the reserve associated with the epicuticular waxes is absorbed and translocated locally via the xylem. This, together with its translaminar activity, provides excellent control of sensitive fungi.
Fontelis® degrades rapidly in soil through oxidation reactions, microbial activity and photolysis, being compatible with safety requirements for users, consumers, wildlife and the environment (green label).
Due to its low risk for mammals, bees, birds and natural enemies, in addition to its wide tolerances and short deficiencies for the main destination markets, Fontelis® is an excellent alternative for the control of botrytis and alternaria during flowering and pre-harvest in cherry trees.
