FILLING OF LINES CLASSIFICATION AND CALIBRATION

To optimise capacity when filling lanes, TOMRA’s unique dynamic lane balancing technology enables up to 10-15% more capacity per lane (per fruit volume) compared to other systems.

The cherries then pass through the entire line for sorting and grading.

TOMRA offers Small Fruit Sorter (SFS) with InVision2 and TotalView Plus.

The InVision2 TotalView Plus is the only inspection technology available that can see 100 % of fruit, at full production speed, with no blind spots. Compared to other sorters, TotalView cameras are positioned at lower inspection angles and closer to the fruit. The higher quality images improve detection of tip breakage, stem mold and cuts. In addition, the Small Fruit Sorter treats cherries more gently than other technologies on the market, employing a series of patented systems that transport cherries in water all the way to the cameras for inspection.

Advantages of TOMRA Food sorters

Using TOMRA sorters allows for improved size grading accuracy, increasing the volume of premium packs. Product waste is reduced and greater uniformity of fruit of each size is ensured. By ensuring very little rejected fruit, with TOMRA there is an extremely low ratio of good product to bad product (typically only 2 to 4 %) which improves the overall efficiency and profitability of the process.

The process is also made more efficient by TOMRA's correct defect classification, which allows products of different qualities to be defined based on consumer tolerance. By mixing high-quality product with a certain amount of product with an authorised defect, cherry waste is minimised and the individual value of each fruit is maximised. Defect classification also allows the quality of the final product to be seen, which defects make up each quality level and provides information to producers so they can improve their production management.
