Chilean agtech Wiseconn has entered into a strategic collaboration with Spanish agrotechnology consultancy SistAgro in the European irrigation hub of Andalusia to introduce cutting-edge technologies in the region in water management, sensing, automation and remote data collection.
For Cristian Duschner, regional director of WiseConn Europe, “the objective of this collaboration is to combine the vast agronomic and productive experience of companies such as SistAgro with our experience in monitoring and automating irrigation systems to create a solution capable of addressing the problem of water use and management in a more holistic way.”
The key to achieving this has been integration via API (connection between software through the cloud), which means forgetting about filling out Excel spreadsheets or forms by hand to feed databases, which is inefficient in terms of time, resources and humans and very subject to error or modification of information.
He adds that “we want Dropcontrol to be an open integration tool with other platforms, as long as the farmer who owns the data is willing to share it to create ecosystems of solutions that revolve around water management.”
Currently, the collaboration is in the field testing phase in irrigated vegetable crops, with data from climatic and hydraulic variables and soil moisture probes, as part of a first stage of concept validation, to then scale the model to all types of crops and more farmers who see in this solution an alternative to improve the efficiency and sustainability of the use of water and resources. Cristian Duschner sums up that "in short, we are generating a collaboration together with SistAgro to become their technological partners in terms of automated data feeding via API integration.
