Viveros El Tambo offers a wide variety of fruit plants, including almonds, cherries, plums, apricots, citrus, peaches, nectarines and table grapes. In addition, the company is part of and holds variety licenses from ANA Chile® and other international breeder programs, which guarantees the genetic quality of its products.
Since 2014, Vivero El Tambo has expanded its presence in the region by establishing the subsidiary Viveros El Tambo SAC in Piura, Peru.
We spoke about this and more with Samuel Escalante, director of Viveros El Tambo. For example, about the company's commitment to its clients' projects and goals, advising them on the best species and varieties for their specific needs.
What are the benefits of using Viveros El Tambo products?
At Viveros El Tambo we take care of even the smallest details, advising our clients individually. We are committed to their projects and goals, providing quality service with personalized guidance, advising on the best species and variety they need to successfully carry out new plantations together, providing comprehensive advice.
Our satisfied customers over the years support the quality of our plants. With more than 10 million plants delivered in the last 10 years, and with intense care throughout the production cycle of each product, we believe that the quality of the plants is one of the pillars that makes the nursery stand out from the competition.
We are a company committed to our clients, collaborators and community. We work with ethics, responsibility and professionalism, becoming increasingly more specialized when producing each plant.
What are the key principles and approaches of Viveros El Tambo in the development of its products, in this case, plants?
We have a professional and qualified team with clear teamwork disciplines to maximize all capabilities.
Throughout the entire production process we are constantly innovating, applying new technologies, working with high quality standards and practices that respect the environment, becoming more sustainable every day.
Our team is not satisfied with just delivering a quality plant. We monitor and visit the producers' fields after planting, to ensure the proper development and growth of the plants in the field and provide recommendations to the producers.

Are there any certifications or recognitions that support the quality of Viveros El Tambo plants?
We comply with all the regulations required by the SAG for stone fruits, vines and citrus. We have a warehouse to store plants that arrive from abroad or need to be kept in phytosanitary protection after leaving quarantine.
All the varieties with intellectual property that we own have been evaluated by experts in different places and climatic conditions, considering flowering, setting, harvest and post-harvest. This process lasts at least three seasons and allows us to select from a group of selected varieties those with attractive characteristics for customers.
In the production process, we trace the genetic material to avoid varietal errors with producers. From the beginning, prior to grafting, the buds/cuttings are coded and properly stored to track the variety throughout the process. We have an ERP that allows tracking and visualization of all inventory movements within the nursery and that supports us in dealing with clients with the identification of the material throughout the process.
It should be noted that the company has recently joined Smartcherry's portfolio of suppliers, with the aim of expanding its client portfolio and strengthening the development of the cherry industry in Chile.
What does your company expect from joining Smartcherry's portfolio of suppliers?
We want to have a greater presence in the communication channels for cherries in Chile, so that our brand is positioned among producers and we continue to be one of the main suppliers of this fruit in the long term.
In this way, Viveros El Tambo becomes an example of commitment, quality and innovation in crop production, backed by decades of experience and a solid vision of its role in the fruit industry.
