Symborg is now part of Corteva Agriscience

Raphael Godinho, CEO of the company, shared his perspective on this acquisition.

Symborg, a leader in biotechnology solutions for sustainable agriculture, announced last March that Raphael Godinho was assuming the role of CEO of the company following the completion of the acquisition of Symborg by Corteva Agriscience.

In an interview for the media agropages.com, Godinho shared his vision on this acquisition and the future development of Symborg.

“Corteva Agriscience’s acquisition of Symborg marks a significant milestone in the company’s evolution. The synergies between the two companies began in 2021, when we signed an exclusive distribution agreement for the microorganism-based nitrogen fixation product BlueN/Utrisha N. This collaboration strengthened the relationship between the two companies and allowed us to explore new areas of joint work,” said the appointed CEO.

Raphael Godinho added: “Corteva Agriscience recognized the potential of Symborg’s innovative technologies and their ability to meet the growing demand for sustainable and profitable agricultural solutions. As part of Corteva Agriscience’s Biological Division, Symborg will have access to greater resources and capabilities to drive innovation, accelerate new product development and maximize their market impact.”

Raphael Godinho, the new CEO, brings more than 18 years of experience in the global crop protection market. Prior to assuming this role, he served as Global Product Manager and Global Program Leader for Biologicals at Corteva. His relationship with Symborg began two years ago during the negotiation of the distribution agreement that enabled the expansion of the Utrisha™ N and BlueN™ nutrient efficiency optimization solutions for growers.

In terms of research and development, the company focuses on exploring new frontiers to meet the changing needs of its customers. Its approach is based on developing products that harness the power of microorganisms to improve plant health and increase crop productivity.

On the other hand, Symborg will face challenges such as climate change, extreme weather events, food security and new regulations. However, the company is committed to continue providing innovative solutions to help farmers overcome these challenges and improve the profitability of their crops.

“As part of Corteva’s biological business, Symborg will have greater leverage to invest in research and development, and leverage its global presence to bring disruptive biological solutions to a greater number of farmers,” Godinho concluded.

The combined resources and expertise of Corteva Agriscience and Symborg promises to deliver even more effective solutions and contribute to the development of more sustainable and profitable agriculture globally.
