Sumitomo Corporation announces a new global brand identity for its Agribusiness companies

  • September 23, 2022

Sumitomo Corporation, through its Summit Agro companies in the South America Region, announces the transition to a new global brand identity. The Summit Agro Group of Companies, one of the world’s leading developers and suppliers of advanced agricultural products, will implement the new identity on a country-by-country basis in the coming months, starting in September 2022.

The aim is to ensure a unified global presence, including national subsidiaries that operate under different names – for naming rights reasons – but still share the same mission: “We develop value to contribute to agricultural production.”

To visualize the spirit of the Summit Agro Group and its passion, the new brand image was developed from a circular structure that clearly delimits our field of action: the world and the people who inhabit it. “A shape that, with different shades of orange, also represents our place of origin: Japan, the land of the rising sun, and our activities always oriented towards a bright horizon. The green leaf, which reflects life, underlines our focus on agriculture, as well as our daily commitment to the environment and the development of sustainable products for the benefit of farmers and society as a whole. This circle has open spaces, demonstrating our openness and willingness to develop and welcome new types of partnerships and technological solutions for the diverse and new needs of producers,” explains Takashi Tanaka, General Manager of AgriScience at Sumitomo Corporation.

As part of the development of its new identity, Summit Agro’s corporate design will change from the previously used variants to a new orange, green and grey colour scheme. In addition to the national and international websites, the rebranding will also be seen in future print advertisements, catalogues and packaging. As Takashi Tanaka notes: “Transitioning our brand image under this single identity strengthens our market presence and allows us to speak to farmers, our teams, our partners and all other stakeholders around the world with a common voice.”

The timeline is to complete the changeover to the new brand design by mid-2023. For reasons of sustainability and resource conservation, existing product packaging and promotional materials will be gradually replaced.

About Sumitomo Corporation and AgriScience

Summit Agro offers a diverse portfolio of crop protection products, biostimulants and fertilizers that guarantee maximum yields to the farmer. Summit Agro is part of Sumitomo Corporation, one of Japan's leading Global Companies. The Summit Companies are independently managed and operate a worldwide network of companies and subsidiaries as part of the Group. The integrated resources of Sumitomo Corporation, and local companies form a powerful platform for product development, marketing, technology and logistics in the agricultural sector.

About Sumitomo Corporation's goals

Sumitomo Corporation, in its medium-term management plan “SHIFT 2023”, has positioned agriculture as one of the next-generation growth areas and the “Agricultural Inputs & Services” business as a steadily growing business category.

In the field of Crop Protection, Sumitomo Corporation started its crop protection export business in the 1970s and currently operates an import and sales business in 37 countries. The company has also expanded its value chain by acquiring agricultural supply distributors.

As part of its commitment to contributing to society, Sumitomo will continue to support stable and sustainable food production, as well as the development of local communities and industries around the world. The company intends to provide products and services that meet the agricultural needs of each country and region, while utilizing its expertise in the field of agricultural materials for business expansion.
