Status of male San José scales in December 2021

During the month of December, the second flight of male San José scalefish of each season begins. Weather conditions advance or delay this flight, directly influencing the next generations of migrating nymphs. This season, this second flight is one week late, with maximum captures occurring between the end of December and the first days of January (Graph No. 1). Therefore, the migration of summer nymphs will begin in mid-January with maximum captures. between the end of January and the beginning of February between the regions of Valparaíso and northern O'Higgins. From the southern O'Higgins region to Maule and Ñuble, the Peak catches will occur from mid-February onwards, optimal control period.
