These are the points to pay attention to.
In light of the serious forest fires that have affected the country, the Office of Agricultural Studies and Policies, Odepa, issued a series of recommendations for farmers:
-Avoid using harvesting machines or any other machinery that may generate sparks between 12:00 and 18:00 hours of the day.
-Burning agricultural and forestry waste is prohibited from the regions of Atacama to Magallanes. It is important to remember that burning agricultural and forestry waste without respecting the regulations is a crime punishable by imprisonment and fines.
-Plan the harvest, prepare the land, create firebreaks and wait for the burning calendar to be available to the community and can be executed when appropriate, to avoid sanctions.
-Do not light a fire to heat food or cook near the harvest site. Any fire can start a forest fire, so risks must be avoided.
-Do not manipulate or generate heat sources when conditions of high temperatures, strong winds or low humidity are present. It is important to have equipment to extinguish any incipient fire.
