The technical department of Martínez y Valdivieso visited the facilities of Agrícola GeoAgro in the town of Morza to make an interesting field visit with the Avium advisory and R&D team. The visit allowed them to visit different plots and varieties and to see in situ the different scenarios based on the management carried out this year.

«As a company, we seek to become the most expert distributor in cherry production on the market and to do so we have to learn from the best, not only by meeting at work tables or participating in talks or courses, but by being in the field and listening to varied experiences», indicated Tamara Rojas, Technical Assistant Manager of MyV.
Carlos Tapia, Technical Director of Avium and specialist advisor in cherry production, explained in detail the meeting held between the teams: “It was a very interesting meeting that we held with the MyV technical team and with the GeoAgro administrative-technical team in the Morza field, where we toured the different representative plots, seeing pruning status, flowering situation and phenological advancement, load potentials and talking with the teams about all the strategies for using growth regulators, fruit set enhancers, retention enhancers, etc.” Tapia commented.
In addition to the technical topics mentioned above, the teams also addressed climate instability and the challenge this implies for cherry production during the 2023-24 season.
“The outing was very good, very enriching, we are at the right moment to know how to manage many regulators and hormones and in the different scenarios that we are going to have this season, so I think it was very good, very enriching and we are going to learn a lot of things, so we take homework home.” commented Mario Soza, Agricultural Manager of Geoagro.
Both MyV and Avium made a positive assessment of the activity, which brought together three important aspects of cherry production.

“We share many experiences and we put doubts on the table, the producer also expressed his concerns about the season and in one way or another we also involve these three legs of the industry to reach a common goal, which is to achieve the productive potential of the projects,” said Carlos Tapia.
The technical team of Martínez and Valdivieso that participated in the interesting event was headed by Cristian Rodríguez, Technical Manager; Tamara Rojas: Technical Assistant Manager; Camila Potin: Zonal VI North Technician and Head of the Los Lirios Office; Pablo Sazo: Zonal VI North Technician; Manuel Yrarrazaval: Zonal VI South Technician; Rodrigo Venegas: Zonal VII South Technician; Pablo Torres: Zonal VII North Technician.
“The balance is extremely positive, first of all, because the technical team of the field was made up of very well-prepared professionals who were generous in telling us about their management methods. In addition, the Avium team, led by Carlos Tapia, gave us a very varied range of scenarios that were present in the field visited, such as: varieties, types of management, types of management, and finally ending with a technical discussion based on the shared experiences that the different teams had in the use of growth regulators. In this area, which at times may seem very individualistic, it makes us remember that we can all learn from each other in an attitude of active listening, which for us was the hallmark of the activity, along with the confirmation that the commitment to the field does not stop, since it was raining quite a lot that day and for none of us who were there was it an impediment to going out with the best agronomic attitude.” concluded Tamara Rojas, Technical Assistant Manager.
