The world of the countryside and the transformation of food come together through the
technology and innovation in a unique space that is taking place for the first time in Chile.
The First International Congress and Fair on Agroindustry and Technology, CfiAgrotech, is generating great expectations in the agri-food industry. For three days, it will bring together renowned experts in sustainable food, with national and international actors, in Santiago to jointly analyze the trends and main challenges facing the sector at a global level.
The event –organized by FISA of the GL events group and the National Society of Agriculture (SNA)– will take place between October 24 and 26 at the Metropolitan Santiago Convention Center. The event will also host the traditional National Agricultural Meeting (ENAGRO), organized annually by the SNA.
In this framework, the Minister of Agriculture and honorary president of the exhibition, Esteban Valenzuela, recalled the difficulties that dozens of farmers who have been seriously affected by the climate factor have had to overcome this year, a topic that will be recurrent over time and that will be part of the analysis that will be given within the framework of the
fair.
“The Chilean agri-food industry must be prepared to face these types of situations,” he said, “but we need institutions such as CfiAgrotech to jointly analyze future challenges and learn about potential solutions offered by innovation and technology, which will allow us to continue paving the way toward sustainability in this key sector for our country's economy.”
CfiAgrotech manager, Paula Miranda, highlighted that “The hallmark of this first edition is innovation and technology for the sustainability of a traditional sector, but one that is constantly being renewed. It is a meeting that represents all sectors that seek to build, invest, improve, modernize and optimize production in the agro-food and agro-technology sector to achieve the sustainability of this industry.”
CfiAgrotech integrates -in a single place- an international congress and a fair with representatives of the industry. Its main objective is to strengthen the country as an agro-food power, in addition to introducing new technologies to the market and exchanging experiences and knowledge to respond to the global demand for healthy and sustainable food, also generating an exclusive space for visibility for SMEs and agtech and foodtech startups.
Although this is the first time this event is being held in Chile, it has a long history in France, where it has been held for 26 years under the name CFIA Rennes (Center of Suppliers of the Agri-Food Industry, in French) and brings together the ingredient and PAI (equipment, processes and packaging) sectors.
Renowned experts
The conference will be divided into ten thematic panels that will address topics that are setting global trends, such as regenerative agriculture, new production logics, and robotics and automation in agri-food, among other topics.
Panellists include Vincent Vincent Doumeizel, Senior Advisor on Oceans and Food at the UN Global Compact; Lauren Falcao, Adjunct Professor of Economics and Global Affairs at Yale University; and Erik Pekkeriet, Director of the Agri-Food Robotics Program at Wageningen University & Research in the Netherlands, among other experts.
The fair will feature exhibitors who will showcase products and solutions in innovation, technologies, supplies and services for sustainable agriculture, livestock and the food processing industry. “Technologies and innovation in agricultural and livestock production; traceability; data science and IoT; ecological footprint and circularity; productive efficiency; health, prevention and control of diseases and pests; and certifications and green financing will be presented”, explained Paula Miranda.
“At CfiAgrotech we want to achieve a meeting point between supply and demand in the agri-food industry, also giving space to all the technological innovation that is revolutionizing the sector, both in our country and worldwide. We are convinced that interesting opportunities will arise for the generation of new businesses and the exchange of valuable experiences and learnings.”, the executive concluded.
