Agrospec, a Chilean company with 35 years of experience in the crop protection and plant nutrition market, held an interesting meeting with Avium's technical team.

«On the one hand, the objective (of the meeting) was to update the information on Agrospec products: new registrations (Boscalid 50% WG, Methoxyfenozid 240 SC), label extensions (control of bispotted spider mite with Bifenthrin 100 EC), new proposals and, on the other hand, to hear from Avium the challenges and problems pending resolution in the phytosanitary area.", commented Ana María Prado, Technical Manager of Agrospec.
The main topics discussed during the meeting were:
– Strategies for controlling two-spotted spider mite in post-harvest.
– Vine donkey: monitoring and control.
– Control of Drosophila suzukii.
– Use of Acetamiprid 20 SP: SP formulation with greater residuality.
– Agrospec botryticides for flowering and pre-harvest: Boscalid 50 WG, Fusion 425 SC and Tebuconazole 430 SC.
– Use of calcium in the soil: Calcium Smart (calcium oxide plus carboxylic acids) vs. Calciomax Flo (concentrated calcium oxide), both options are valid.
– Importance of coverage in the application of Pyriproxifen 100 EC for the control of ESJ
– Use of Ascophyllum Ultra Dry via irrigation.
Agrospec was represented by Ana María Prado B., Technical Manager; Pedro Araya S., zonal manager for the O'Higgins Region; and Ignacio Correa P., zonal manager for the Maule Region. Avium was represented by its Technical Director, Carlos Tapia, as well as by the advisory and communications team.
Ana María Prado B., Technical Manager of Agrospec, referred to the proposals and/or products that Agrospec has for a new cherry season.
«Bifenthrin 100 EC to enhance the control of two-spotted spider mite in post-harvest in mixture or in consecutive application with Spirodiclofen 240 EC, in case of high pressure. It can also be used alone and in new plantations for the simultaneous control of moths and other insects; Acetamiprid 20SP and 70WP, for the control of Drosophila suzukii; Boscalid 50 WG for the control of botrytis, ideally in the final stages of flowering; Ascophyllum Ultra Dry: Ascophyllum nodosum in ultra-concentrated powder, very convenient for soil applications. It is also recommended for foliar use in post-harvest and in new plants. In addition, all the already known products of the Phytosanitary Line and Nutra Specialties Agrospec», said the Technical Manager, who also added that: «Cherry growers are looking for alternatives that allow them to reduce their costs without sacrificing control or improve their programs without increasing their costs, so the Agrospec line will be a good partner this season», he concluded.
