The Control-Tec line of equipment is changing the post-harvest fruit segment in Chile. Since 2017, when AgroFresh launched this portfolio, Control-Tec™ Eco, Eco Washer and Dosifier, it has been helping the packaging of cherries, apples, citrus, stone fruits, among others, to substantially reduce the use of water in post-harvest processes. Control-Tec™ Eco is an equipment that filters water in continuous recirculation, reducing the generation of wastewater since it allows its reuse and therefore the extension of its useful life, “in practical cases with Control-Tec™Eco at points such as the emptying well, we have helped our clients, with daily process water replacement frequencies to change it at intervals of 7 to 10 days, reaching up to a 60% reduction in its use,” explains Eduardo Rey, Technical Operations Manager.
Another notable piece of equipment is the Control-Tec™ Eco Washer, a “Smart” washing, sanitizing and rinsing shower designed especially for applications in process lines. Its pressure-controlled nozzles provide the correct balance of water required in combination with the necessary chemical products according to the speed of the fruit's progress through the packaging line, guaranteeing effective cleaning and sanitizing of the same. This operating logic generates significant savings in water and products used. “When we combine the two Control-Tec Eco and Eco Washer systems, we have obtained up to an 80% reduction in water consumption in post-harvest, which can mean more water available for consumption, irrigation and sustainability, which is so necessary in the processes,” says Denny Vidal, Commercial Manager of AgroFresh Chile.
