8 technical-commercial talks and a field day will make up the new edition of Cherry Day

August 28 and 29.

The event will be held in Neuquén, Argentina, and will feature local exhibitors from Chile, South Africa and Tasmania.

The Argentine Chamber of Integrated Cherry Producers, CAPCI, announced the date and place where a new version of Cherry Day will be held; the most important event of the Argentine cherry industry will take place on August 28 and 29 in Neuquén, and includes a day of technical-commercial exhibitions and a field day.

“Cherry Day is an annual event organized by CAPCI, but this year we are calling it Anniversary Cherry Day, as it is a special event because the Argentine Chamber of Integrated Cherry Producers is celebrating its tenth anniversary, and taking advantage of this birthday we are going to have a diverse series of conferences on August 28, where we are going to address topics on the market situation for Argentina and technical topics, inviting prominent speakers from Chile, South Africa and Tasmania, in addition to Argentine speakers.” explained Aníbal Caminiti, Manager of the organizing entity.

Among the Argentine exhibitors are Betina Ernst, Juan Carlos Pujó and Tomás Lochbaum; specialists Jordi Casas and Valeria Lepe will be present from Chile, while Gert Eastes, cherry producer and director of Cherry Ridge, and Peter Cornish, executive director of Fruit Grower, will be present from South Africa and Tasmania, respectively.

The talks will address various topics of interest to the cherry industry, such as early cherry production through the experience of South Africa; commercial aspects of quality and differential market insertion that Tasmania is carrying out, with its cherry quality strongly recognized in the Southeast Asian markets; new varieties in Argentina; management to advance the early production of traditional varieties such as Santina and Royal Dawn; induced pitting in selection and packaging lines, etc.

“After the presentations, we will have a panel made up of various CAPCI actors throughout Argentina, from Mendoza to Santa Cruz, where we will talk about the present and future of the Argentine cherry sector. We invite everyone who wants to participate. It will be an interesting day, with the support of many sponsors. We will have a showroom and, as always, a meeting of the Argentine cherry industry to interact, talk, and see new proposals. On August 28, we will be waiting for you in Neuquén with a series of conferences, and on the 29th we will close with a visit to the field.” Caminiti added.
