
1. How did the Consulate General of Chile in Guangzhou view the cherry season? What is the overall assessment?
"The recent measures adopted last December are clearly conducive to the normalisation of trade in general."
2. What effects have you seen following the removal of pandemic-related restrictions?
"Many of the restrictions imposed over the past three years as a result of the pandemic were able to be mitigated in their effects on trade, largely thanks to the efforts and management of importers and distributors."
3. How has the relationship been that the Consulate has maintained with the main stakeholders from the market? (wholesale markets, importers, company representatives).
«They value the quality of the Chilean product and the trust in their counterparts in Chile. During my management I have been able to meet importers and distributors of national products.«.
4. We understand that you participated in the opening activities of the cherry season in Guangzhou. How did that come across? What feeling did you get from the participants?
«To inaugurate the Chilean cherry season in China, I was invited to two ceremonies at the Guangzhou wholesale market, which receives and distributes 70% of the fresh Chilean fruit sold in this country.. One of these ceremonies was called “The Chilean Fruit Route”, evoking and creating a parallel with the legendary “Silk Road”, which in the past linked China with remote countries.
5. We also learned that after 3 years, Guangzhou received a visit from an ASOEX delegation from Chile. How was that? What feedback did you receive from the participants?
«One of the visitors we received recently was Mr. Iván Marambio, president of ASOEX, who met with local importers. The atmosphere at that meeting was one of optimism and pleasant camaraderie.»
6. How does the overall economic situation in China look and how should it affect our country's foreign trade?
"I believe that our foreign trade has been influential in positioning the country's image in the world."
