The main varieties seen in the markets were Santina, Royal Down and Lapins.
During week 52, 5 ships arrived in China with 2,639 containers of Chilean cherries, which caused the market to open at a good pace, opening around 500 containers daily.
However, due to the greater supply of fruit in the various markets, prices have remained stable compared to previous weeks, with respect to good quality fruit. This, also driven by the new year 2023 -from December 31 to January 2-, (not Chinese New Year), as buyers were looking for stock for sales and promotion activities for these dates, according to our correspondents in the Asian country.
As a point of reference for the prices of cherries arriving in China, the 5 kg box of Santina jumbo dark was available between 250 and 270 Yuan (RMB). While the super jumbo dark was between 300 and 320 Yuan (RMB).
It should be noted that from January 1 to 9, 6 ships are expected to arrive, departing with Ever Loyal and arriving at the first port in Nansha, and of the other 5 ships, one would arrive directly to Shanghai.
These new arrivals to China would carry a total equivalent to 2,735 containers of cherries, mainly Santina and Lapins varieties.
