Rains from Atacama to the south.
The La Niña phenomenon has not yet made itself felt and we are still in a neutral phase, that is to say, the period of scarcity of rainfall typical of this phenomenon has not yet become present in the national territory. Proof of this are the two frontal systems that will be recorded in the central and central-southern areas of the country, between August 1 and 4.
«Two frontal systems are expected to reach central Chile, causing rainfall of between 20 and 40 mm, inclusive, because they are frontal systems associated with low pressure, which will cause rain at the beginning of August from Atacama to the south, including obviously Santiago, O'Higgins, Maule, Ñuble, Biobío, La Araucanía, we will have rainfall throughout the day, quite intense.» said the agroclimatologist from the University of Talca, Patricio González.
«The precipitation will begin to be felt from tonight (July 31), especially from the Maule region and up to the Araucanía region, this frontal system is already approaching the continent accompanied by an extensive atmospheric river. The frontal system will have a high isotherm, which will generate significant rainfall in pre-mountain and mountain areas. This phenomenon will continue its movement northwards on Friday, affecting the regions of Atacama, Coquimbo, Valparaíso and Metropolitana; in this last region, the greatest intensity is expected to be recorded in the early morning and morning of Friday, where around 30 mm could fall.
