In Chilean cherry production, the aim is to obtain cherries with a darker colour, since in the Asian market (one of the most common destinations for Chilean cherries) a dark colour is associated with a sweeter flavour.
In this context, the most effective strategy is one that brings forward the ripening of cherries, thereby concentrating a higher percentage of fruits that meet the optimal conditions (colour, average weight, size, etc.) for harvesting at the right time, ensuring that the post-harvest will not be negatively affected.
This objective is achieved with the biostimulant Manvert Avanza, which, as its name suggests, brings forward the ripening of the fruit on the tree, maintaining excellent post-harvest quality. With this early ripening, the cherries meet the requirements demanded by the export market.
Recent results confirm the great effectiveness of this biostimulant in cherry cultivation in Chile.
In one of the trials (conducted on the Regina variety in Region VII) the product was tested with different dosages (T2: 1.5 L/ha and T3: 3 L/Ha) compared to the control (T1). The results showed an increase in the number of fruits with optimal colour for marketing in the trees that received the treatment.
This color scale was evaluated, where the most commercially interesting fruits are those of color 4, 5 and 6.

In this sense, the results of the application of manvert advances at a dose of 3 L/ha (T3) obtained an increase in production of almost 32%.

However, it was not only the colour that was improved with manvert adelantado. An increase in Brix degrees and an increase in large sizes were also recorded with the T2 and T3 treatments, which correspond to manvert adelantado at 1.5 and 3 L/Ha respectively.

In summary, an increase in colour, Brix degrees and size was achieved with manvert advance. These were the results of this trial, which were corroborated in a second trial carried out on the Santina variety in the Maule Region. In this trial, a control (T1) was compared with manvert advance at 1.5 L/Ha carried out in a single application (T2) and with manvert advance at 1.5 L/Ha in two applications (T3).
This color scale was used in this essay:

The results with manvert advances managed to increase the percentage of cherries of mahogany and dark mahogany colors significantly, as reflected in the following graph (T2 and T3 correspond to the treatments with manvert):

And an increase in the average cherry weight of up to 13.5% was also achieved:

These results are possible thanks to the formulation of Manvert Avanza, which contains Ascophyllum nodosum algae extract extracted using the exclusive Seavert tech® technology, which provides a higher concentration of active ingredients that promote the colour concentration process in the fruit, and terpene derivatives, which increase the content of jasmonates and sugars in the fruit, concentrating the colour of the fruit.
