On April 16 and 17, a new version of the International Seminar on Early Fresh Cherries from Mendoza will be held and Smartcherry will be there to cover all the details of this important event.
The event will last two days, with various exhibitions and a field day. The topics to be addressed in the talks include: commercial profitability; financing tools; myths and realities of producing in early and marginal areas, a presentation that will be given by Jorge Astudillo, Production Manager of Agroindustrial Valle Arriba, Co-founder of the Seminar on Primores Cherries of Ovalle.
«The invitation that I have received from the Mendoza Cherry Chamber and the Mendoza government is a response to a relationship that we have been building between the two areas. They have come to Ovalle to be part of the seminar, speakers have come to tell us about their experiences, and I was invited to tell all the experiences that we have accumulated over time. In particular, the talk will now talk about myths and realities regarding the production of early and marginal cherries based on the experience that we have accumulated, not only with the Brooks variety, but also with other varieties that I have been able to take more background information from. The importance of being able to participate in this type of event is also to be able to learn about the reality of an area that is similar to ours, even in terms of the dates, it is quite similar at the start of the harvest, but not so in the commercial part.» commented Jorge Astudillo.
There will also be a block dedicated to the progress of the evaluation of the Frisco cultivar in Luján de Cuyo, Mendoza; management factors of Santina; importance of soil in cherry production, led by the Chilean advisor, specialist in plant nutrition and soil health, Lucas Ferrada; strategic monitoring for better management of frost in cherries; cracking; solar energy, among other interesting topics.
«Today we have a great turnout, the truth is that this is an event that has already been consolidated, both with producers from the 5 producing provinces of Argentina, as well as from Chile; the focus is mainly on the early zone of Chile, with whom we have been working very well with the people of Ovalle, Argentine speakers participate in this event that takes place next May in Ovalle, and Chilean speakers participate in this event, and obviously we will continue toWe are combining our future with the production of cherries at an increasingly early age," said Facundo Quiros, Manager of the Mendoza Cherry Chamber.
