MIP-Agro part of Rovensa Next, leader in zero waste products, presents its latest launch in biocontrol for cherry trees in Chile: Tecfort® for the control of Drosophila suzukii and aphids. Designed with cutting-edge technology to provide an effective, sustainable and zero-waste solution.
The Drosophila suzukii The pest represents an important economic threat to cherry cultivation in Chile. It directly affects the fruit by laying its eggs in it, leading to the development of larvae that feed on the pulp and presenting rapid and abundant reproductive cycles, which translates into a significant deterioration in quality, loss of yield, increased additional costs when implementing control measures, commercial restrictions and potential damage to the reputation of the producer or the country. Because the control of this pest is close to harvest, it is very important and interesting to have zero-residue insecticides that do not add molecules or withdrawal periods and can complement the conventional chemical control program for this insect.
During this season it is also necessary to remember the control of this pest in remaining fruit, which has not been harvested due to cracks caused by the recent rains and also in any fruit that has been left on the ground. In this sense, Tecfort® has natural ingredients to ensure effective protection. Its unique formulation has 2% of pyrethrins obtained from chrysanthemum flower extract (Chrysanthemum cinerariaefolium), adjuvant antioxidants and other co-formulants. These natural pyrethrins offer a highly effective solution for pest control without compromising environmental safety or crop quality.
Tecfort® pyrethrins are microencapsulated using advanced Promicell® technology, forming protective phospholipid micelles around the active ingredient. This microencapsulation process ensures that the pyrethrins remain stable and active, even under unfavourable environmental conditions, as well as ensuring a controlled release of the active ingredient, maximising its effectiveness and prolonging the duration of the insecticidal effect.
Tecfort® works by contact, causing the death of the insect by attacking its central nervous system, penetrating through natural openings and non-sclerotized cuticular regions.
MIP-Agro, part of Rovensa Next, formulates products with a proactive approach to sustainability, which is why Tecfort® stands out for its environmentally friendly profile, minimising negative impacts on the environment, ensuring a healthy balance in the agricultural ecosystem.
