Using Suntec to prevent thermal stress in post-harvest and boost reserve accumulation in cherry trees

The company MIP Agro, a distributor of cutting-edge agricultural inputs, has carried out an innovative study in collaboration with the company Avium, specialised in agronomic research. The focus of the research was the Suntec product, designed to mitigate post-harvest thermal stress and enhance the accumulation of reserves in mature cherry orchards.

To this end, a trial was conducted in a commercial orchard of Regina cherry trees, located in the municipality of Molina, Maule Region, with the main objective of evaluating a Suntec application program, with special attention to its ability to prevent post-harvest thermal stress and promote the accumulation of reserves in an orchard in full cherry production.

During the research process, extensive measurements of various quality parameters were carried out, focusing on the assessment of the overall health of the cherry trees and the quality of the crops. In addition, stomatal conductance measurements were performed during the post-harvest stage, providing valuable information on the physiological response of the trees to thermal stress.

The trial, developed in collaboration with Avium, provided accurate data on the impact of Suntec on mature cherry orchard conditions, yielding encouraging results in terms of reduced heat stress and improved reserve accumulation.

In this way, MIP Agro continues to offer innovative solutions to agricultural producers, supporting the sustainable development of crops and promoting practices that optimize productivity. The use of Suntec as a tool to combat post-harvest thermal stress and maximize the accumulation of reserves in mature cherry orchards demonstrates the company's commitment to research and technological advancement in the agricultural field.
