Second AgroTech Chile Meeting brings together more than 50 leaders from the agricultural and technological sector

Last Tuesday, July 11, the second AgroTech Chile meeting was held at the Microsoft offices in Vitacura, Santiago de Chile. This event brought together more than 50 people in person, as well as several virtual participants, who represented more than 30 AgroTech companies and startups in the country.

The main objective of this meeting was to present the guidelines of the organization and the motivations that led to the formation of the AgroTech Chile Trade Association. During the day, attendees had the opportunity to listen to prominent industry representatives and witness interesting presentations on the technological solutions available for the agricultural and food sector, as well as tools to encourage the development of startups.

Among the featured speakers were Ramsey Puigmarti and Wilson Pais, representatives of Microsoft South America, who spoke about the solutions available for Agro and Food Tech, as well as the tools to support startups. In addition, Renato Cacciuttolo, from Startup Scouter Imagine, invited those present to participate in the initiatives they are developing and to be part of CfiAgroTech, which will be held for the first time in October of this year.

Interesting proposals were also presented during the event. María José Valladares, coordinator of rural development at the National Agricultural Society (SNA), shared the Conectagro project and financing initiatives for technology entrepreneurs. She also highlighted the importance of trade associations in the formulation of public policies and their impact on the development of the sector.

Around 50 entrepreneurs attended the second meeting.

Jorge Valenzuela, president of Fedefruta, offered a vision on the relevance of unions, food and the use of technology in agriculture. In addition, a panel discussion was held in which Cristian Estrada, director of the Chilean Association of Bioinsumos Trade Union Network; Catalina Cohen, director of the Association of Women in Agriculture (AMAGRO); Jorge Valenzuela, president of Fedefruta, and María José Valladares, member of the SNA, participated, who shared experiences and visions on unions and the use of technology in the agricultural sector.

Francisco Astaburuaga, General Manager of AgroMatch and manager of AgroTech Chile, presented the AgroTech ecosystem, the challenges and proposals for the commercialization of AgroTech services, as well as the formation of the AgroTech Latam Association and the next steps and projects.

As part of the meeting, a vote was held to select the future members of the board of directors of the AgroTech Chile Trade Association. The participation of all those present was notable, and the members initially elected were Francisco Astaburuaga from AgroMatch, Tomás Pérez from Green Atacama and Claudia Barriga from Smartcherry, as well as the collaborating members Daniel Cabrera from Aquadect, Cristian Estrada from Eficagua, Matías Palacios from Paraled, Nicolás Castellón from Miido, Tomás Valenzuela and Vicente Pérez from AgroInventario.

The second AgroTech Chile meeting was a resounding success, strengthening collaboration between the agricultural and technological sectors and laying the foundations for the development of innovative solutions that boost productivity and sustainability in the Chilean countryside.
