At a recent meeting of the Irrigation and Drainage Trade Association (Agryd), the election of new members of the board of directors was held. Among those selected was Tomás Vicente, Wiseconn's regional manager for Latin America, who obtained the second majority of votes from the members.
With a total of 24 votes in his favor, Vicente positioned himself as a new member of the board of directors, coming in second behind Walter Frindt of AITEC, who obtained the first majority with 28 votes.
This appointment is of significant importance to Wiseconn, according to Cristóbal Rivas, general manager of the company. Rivas said that it consolidates Wiseconn's position within the irrigation industry, demonstrating its relevance as a major player in irrigation optimization in the agricultural sector.
Tomás Vicente expressed his gratitude for his election as a member of the board and highlighted the challenges he will face in his new position over the next two years. The Association's board will have as its main challenges addressing the Irrigation Law 18,450 (CNR) and the impact of the constitutional process on the irrigation industry, especially in relation to water rights.
Vicente, an agricultural engineer from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile with a postgraduate degree in Strategic Sales, has extensive experience in irrigation, fruit growing and applied technologies linked to the Internet of Things (IoT). He currently holds the position of Regional Manager for Wiseconn for Latin America, a leading company in the development of telemetry, automation and water management solutions for agriculture.
The other three members of the board elected for the 2023-2025 period are lawyer Macarena Muñoz, academic Guillermo Donoso and consultant Jabes Medeiros. Together, they will face the challenges and work within the framework of the objectives of the Irrigation and Drainage Trade Association in the coming years.
