Second International Seminar on Early Cherries in Mendoza ended with a field day

Around 100 people attended the event in the Santa Croce garden.

On March 22, the second and final day of the International Seminar on Early Fresh Cherries was held at the Santa Crocce farm, in the Alto Agrelo district, Luján de Cuyo in Mendoza.

The activity that concluded the seminar had as its main objective the review of the crop and the soil, through a test pit.

Manuel Contreras, head of the Aminochem Research and Development Department.

At that time, the technical analysis was carried out by Manuel Contreras, an agricultural engineer and head of the Research and Development Department of the company Aminochem.

The truth is that this orchard is quite vigorous. Some plants were seen that have some degree of incompatibility because that has been the diagnosis that has been made in the orchard, but in itself the objective that is pursued is the adequate vigor to choose the load-bearing branches and that allow supporting the greatest quantity of fruit as productive potential.", Contreras said first.

In turn, the engineer added about the terrain of the place that "The test pits show us a silt loam soil, with an adequate distribution of roots, however it is necessary to densify this root system to make it more efficient for the absorption of nutrients.”.

Alejandro Zimmernam, President of CAPCI.

For his part, based on the second day spent in the Santa Crocce orchard and the seminar in general, Alejandro Zimmerman, president of the Argentine Chamber of Integrated Cherry Producers (CAPCI), had words of gratitude for those who participated in this event.

I would like to congratulate the Mendoza Cherry Chamber for organizing this seminar, which has been very successful these days, as it has been very informative and interesting. We have been able to share not only with producers and companies from Mendoza, but also with Chilean colleagues and friends, who are undoubtedly an honor to have because they show us what they are doing in terms of product development.“Zimmerman said.

Furthermore, the president of CAPCI added that: “From all these talks or seminars one takes away something more than positive, with the objective of growth and developing the production of cherries in Argentina and especially in early cherries in this province that is so rich in everything it gives us in terms of land, water and people who are getting involved in knowledge of what is the development and production of cherries and to obtain a top quality fruit.”.

Diego Aguilar, president of the Mendoza Cherry Chamber and representative of the Santa Crocce orchard.

Finally, Diego Aguilar, president of the Mendoza Chamber of Cherries and representative of the Santa Crocce orchard, thanked the group for choosing the terrain for the picnic that ended the second day of the International Seminar on Early Fresh Cherries of Mendoza.

Well, we would like to thank Smartcherry and all the people who have accompanied us in this early fruit seminar for their presence. I hope that we can all take away what we came to look for because Chile has changed our way of working, which for us has been very efficient. We have been able to increase our yields to the point of being able to become competitive in exports, which was not the case before.”, concluded Diego Aguilar.

It is worth mentioning that around 100 people attended the closing activity of the seminar, who witnessed the analysis of the garden at the Santa Crocce farm in Mendoza.
