Market stakeholders continue to place it above other port stations for its logistical quality.
Our correspondents in China interviewed Frank Jensen, Chief Commercial Officer of the Port of Hong Kong, who shared some general information about the port situation there during the current season, and also described it as one of the most reliable in the country.
“Hong Kong remains a reliable port, as market stakeholders tend to choose it,” Jensen said. The Chief Commercial Officer added, regarding cherry shipments specifically, that “we are expecting volumes to grow between 10% and 20% this season,” he said.
In this light, Hong Kong continues to play a dominant role, with 2 to 3 vessels calling each week during the current season.
For Jensen, this port terminal in general is chosen because it offers a good service and its users know how logistics work there. “Its good operation has been proven, which generates confidence. The port has 5 terminals, of which 4 work together as part of an alliance, which makes the operation very efficient,” said Frank Jensen.
It is worth mentioning that according to the Chief Commercial Officer, after the government removed the restrictions, everything returned to pre-pandemic conditions and the first ship that docked on December 9 arrived with 150 containers, the first group of containers were released in 21 minutes and the 85% of these left the terminal within 2 hours.
