Tattersall's roundtable discussion brought together different stakeholders in cherry production

An interesting conversation about cherry production was held by our partner Tattersall. The event took place at the facilities of the Restaurant and Events Center Entre Ríos, located in the O'Higgins region. The event was attended by a group of Tattersall clients, made up of producers, field managers, cherry exporters, and also by the presentation of two renowned advisors.

For us it is very important to be able to support the producers, it is a year of much uncertainty, the season is starting, we are always trying to support in all kinds of technical things, this table or this workshop with two important advisors was looking for that, to clear up the doubts that the producers could have, to see the use and moment of application of the products, we have a very interesting range of products; in this case we saw the range of Daymsa products that are used in this season from coming out of flower or full flower until setting, where there are many doubts, which were clarified. We also (reviewed) the issues regarding the import of fertilizers, how to supply some things, the size, the best alternatives to increase the size, a number of issues that always contribute to the producers.”, said Eugenio Bontes, Specialty Manager at Tattersall.

Fernando Lázaro, Latam Manager of Daymsa, was in charge of opening the discussion table with an interesting description of the range of products for cherries and their benefits.

“The Tattersall team has managed to bring together a select group of producers and people who are hungry for knowledge, especially to find out what is going to happen in the sector and to find out what Carlos Tapia, who is a specialist in the area, thinks. And our role is to present our products, products that we have worked on with Carlos Tapia within his strategy and within his development team, we have compared research on the functioning and effectiveness of our products and we love working with people like Carlos in this case,” Lazarus explained.

Also speaking was the specialist advisor on cherry production and Technical Director of Avium, Carlos Tapia, who highlighted the event and thanked Tattersall for the invitation.

“We talked about various topics relevant to the cherry season, fruit setting stages, biostimulation strategies, sizing strategies, how to deal in some cases with later regulation strategies such as fruit thinning, we talked about nutrition, we talked about calcium, we talked about soil nutrition, so it was a very relaxed conversation with a lot of participation from the attendees and that always enriches this type of event,” said Carlos Tapia.

The attendees were grateful for the presence of the two important speakers who were part of this discussion panel.

“A very dynamic and entertaining activity in which we discussed various technical and commercial aspects of cherry production for the upcoming season, and I think it was very interesting to share with producers, with people from the same situation as me, and with the company of two advisors to exchange ideas for facing the upcoming season.” said Claudio Berrios, General Manager of Río Blanco Agriculture.

Nicolás Copello, Production Manager at Inversiones Monteallegro, also spoke about the event: “Excellent, the explanations given by everyone were super simple, regarding the doubts that we producers and those in charge of the fields had, very dynamic and I am very grateful to Tattersall for this invitation.”

Tattersall has reinforced the motivation and objective of this type of event, which brings together the different actors in the cherry industry.

“Today there are so many different scenarios, we are in an area that is medium early for cherries, we are next to an area that is medium late, which is Curicó in the South, and another late area with different scenarios in terms of the market, in which some are having a hard time, others are doing well, others are doing so-so; I think it is super important to be able to see new alternatives to the problems that cherries can have. Today we had the participation of a commercial partner of ours, Daymsa, which is one of our main supplier companies, and secondly we had the relevant experience of an important advisor, Carlos Tapia, having the presence of our clients who came to participate in different ways, producers, exporters, people linked to agriculture with multifruit, not only with cherries, so the experience and the enrichment that there was as a round table allows you to face different scenarios and I think that is very important,” concluded Matías Vallejo, Technical Manager of Tattersall.
