Tavan Podcast: experts in biotechnology applied to their crops

“Bacterial cancer in cherry orchards” This is the first podcast that Tavan launched on our platform. In it, Rodrigo Mesina, Technical Director of Tavan Chile for Chile and Peru, explains what bacterial cancer is, one of the main diseases that affects the cherry industry.

"This is a bacteria that is present in most of the areas where it is monitored throughout Chile, focusing on the fact that the crops begin in Ovalle and end in Osorno, Coyhaique. Without a doubt, this bacteria is the main problem regarding the productive potential of the crop," he explains. Rodrigo Mesina, Technical Director of Tavan Chile, for Chile and Peru.

Tavan, a company of Spanish origin, with a factory also in the Dominican Republic and with a presence in Chile for more than 15 years, also has two other podcast chapters:  “Anthocyanins”, a set of pigments that give cherries their important color, and “Biological controllers in disease management”, which describes the main mechanisms of disease control by antagonistic microorganisms.
