Rain is undoubtedly a climatic event that requires special attention in agriculture. Although it is of great benefit, especially considering the mega-drought that has affected the country for more than a decade, it must be clear, for example, when it is necessary to repeat certain fungicide applications after significant rainfall, which may have caused the applied products to be washed away.

In this context, Quimetal has already released two podcast episodes that are very useful for cherry producers.

The first of them titled “The importance of reacting to copper washing due to rain” and the second “Weather events and application of copper-based fungicides”In both episodes, Juan Pablo Lasserre, Quimetal's National and International Sales Manager, talks with the technical team of the Fifth Metropolitan, Sixth and Seventh regions, who provide recommendations in the face of these climatic events.

“The issue of frost is often overlooked and the damage it causes to the bark of twigs and trees is a source of inoculants for pathogens, therefore a key point for applying copper-based fungicides or a key time is after these frosts since the tree must be protected from possible pathogens; and the second problem is the rains, which we already know that depending on the area, the rains have been more than 40 mm and over 40 mm the washing of the coppers is very strong, therefore the effect of the coppers decreases and sometimes it is necessary to repeat”, indicates Juan Pablo Lasserre, National and International Sales Manager at Quimetal.

Both chapters of Quimetal podcast are now also available in our channel on Spotify.
