The event will take place on April 19, in person, at the Hotel Sun Monticello Conference Center in San Francisco de Mostazal.

There is great expectation for the third version of the Global Cherry Summit, an event that will once again bring together the cherry industry. The meeting, postponed since 2020 due to the health contingency and restrictions associated with the pandemic, will finally take place on April 19, 2022.

“The Cherry Summit as a concept emerged at the end of 2017. There we detected that there was a great need for information on how the Chilean cherry industry was progressing, particularly in the commercial field, in addition to a great interest in what was happening in China. At the same time, industry suppliers were looking for opportunities to meet with producers and exporters. For its 2019 version, the Asoex Cherry Committee joined as a co-organizer of the event, which allowed us to strengthen ties and better understand the information needs of producers and exporters.” explained Gustavo Yentzen, President of Yentzen Group.

The latest version of the Global Cherry Summit brought together more than 700 professionals from the main cherry exporting and importing countries in the world, including Chile, China, the United States, England, Brazil, Australia, New Zealand and more than 80 companies that exhibited their products and services.

“The goal is to bring together the cherry industry: producers, exporters, suppliers, importers and supermarket chains in one place, to obtain more information on the trends that shape the industry, understand the challenges that affect it each season, learn about the marketing activities that are developed in the various markets and much more. The interesting thing is that more and more producers and exporters from other origins such as Argentina, South Africa, New Zealand and Australia have been joining, becoming a unique meeting point for the cherry industry,” Yentzen said.

The event, which is being held for the third time, has two large areas: on the one hand, the educational section, where presenters and panelists from various world markets, as well as supplier countries, present and analyze the most relevant information for the sector. On the other hand, there is the section corresponding to the exhibition, where more than 80 national and international companies supplying inputs and services interact with producers and exporters.

“This year we will have a battery of top-level presentations and panelists from various world markets – analysis of Chinese retail – presented by chain leaders, analysis panels on the shipping challenge. But I think the best thing will be that we will be able to meet in person for the first time since the pandemic began. Last year we generated two online events, one at the end of the 2020/21 season and one at the start of the 2021/22 season. These online events were very successful, as they allowed us to publicize the relevant information aspects that had affected the season or those elements that were anticipated to affect the campaign that was beginning, but the most relevant aspect was missing, the human aspect, which is the key,” detailed the General Manager of Yentzen Group.

Global Cherry Summit 2022 will be held at the Hotel Sun Monticello Conference Center in San Francisco de Mostazal and will have all the necessary safeguards to deal with the large influx of participants and the preventive protocols for Covid-19.

“This year presents an additional challenge for us, as the number of attendees exceeded the capacity of the Monticello event center. That is why we have installed the exhibition section in a giant tent just a few steps from the convention center, thus allowing more than 800 people to access the talks and enjoy the exhibits and meeting areas of the event.", said the organizers of the Global Cherry Summit.

The event, as has happened in other years, is already completely sold out.

“We hope that all those who have their tickets this year enjoy the cherry industry meeting, and those who were not able to buy tickets this year, we invite them to pre-purchase for the 2023 version,” Gustavo Yentzen concluded.
