After one of the most complex cherry seasons in the history of the production of this fruit species in Chile, the time has come to take stock; advisors Carlos Tapia, Walter Masman and Jordi Casas will be part of the report that premieres tonight, at 9:30 p.m., on Smartcherry TV, and which is entitled "What do we do?: Review of the 2023-2024 cherry season.
«Despite everything we experienced this season, it is an absolutely positive balance, that is, we have practically exported the same number of boxes as in the 2022-2023 season, but it is certainly a season that requires a specific analysis, first of all in terms of early cherry production, in early varieties and in warmer climatic zones; I would analyze that, perhaps, before December 5 and after December 5, when the entire supply of early cherries in the warmer valleys was quite irregular from the point of view of loads, mainly influenced by climatic conditions», said Carlos Tapia, a specialist advisor on cherry production and technical director of Avium.
Jordi Casas, a specialist advisor on deciduous fruit trees, and Walter Masman, an advisor and consultant specialising in stone fruits and cherries, will also give their assessment in the report, where they will refer to different aspects of the season; from the assessment, the scenarios that occurred, recommendations, among other topics. In addition, together with cherry producers, they will analyse in detail situations that occurred in the orchards.

Ignacio Botto, technical advisor for Avium, will also be part of this chapter. He visited an orchard in the Pichingal sector, Molina, where despite adverse factors, they increased their production by 40 percent compared to last season.
The premiere is tonight at 9:30 p.m. on Smartcherry TV, a space sponsored by Corteva Agriscience, Chemie Agro and UPL.
