Copec Flux, a Copec subsidiary specialising in distributed solar generation, and Viveros El Tambo have inaugurated the nursery's first solar plant, marking a significant milestone in the transition towards a more sustainable and environmentally friendly energy matrix. This project not only reinforces the commitment of both companies to sustainability, but also establishes a replicable model for the national agricultural sector.
The solar plant, with an installed capacity of 174.96 kWp and located in the commune of San Vicente de Tagua Tagua, has 325 solar panels and follows the ESCO model, facilitating access to renewable generation technologies without the need for a significant initial investment, allowing companies to optimize their energy consumption and reduce costs in the long term.
Recognized for its innovative approach and dedication to quality, Viveros El Tambo strives to meet the fruit tree planting and renewal needs of both local and international growers. Their constant search for new sustainable technologies and practices led them to explore more efficient and environmentally friendly ways to power their operations.
In this regard, Samuel Escalante, director of Viveros El Tambo, said: “With the implementation of this solar plant, we reinforce our commitment to innovation and quality, taking a significant step towards sustainability. This initiative not only reduces our carbon footprint, but also promotes responsible and environmentally friendly agricultural practices. We hope that this project will inspire others in the industry to adopt more sustainable practices.”
For his part, Gonzalo Egaña, commercial and industrial manager of Copec Flux, said: “We are committed to the energy transition and firmly believe in the transformative potential of solar energy for our matrix. We are proud to support Viveros El Tambo in its transformation, integrating innovative solar solutions that will not only produce fruit plants with high quality standards, but will also serve as a sustainability model for other nurseries and agricultural producers in Chile.
The strategic alliance between Copec Flux and Viveros El Tambo demonstrates how collaboration between sectors can boost the development of sustainable projects and contribute to progress towards a greener and more environmentally responsible economy. This project highlights the importance of innovation and technology in the modernization of the agricultural sector and in the transition towards clean energy in Chile.
