The Federico Santa María Technical University, in collaboration with the Catholic University of Valparaíso, were chosen as organizers of the XXIX Congress of the Chilean Society of Phytopathology, whose motto will be "Phytopathogens, Climate Change and Biodiversity Resources."ad”.
The 29th Congress of the Chilean Society of Phytopathology will be held in Valparaíso from December 14 to 16. The event brings together academics, researchers, undergraduate and graduate students, professionals from various institutions and companies, and farmers to share experiences and update themselves on topics related to phytopathology in an atmosphere of camaraderie.
The Congress includes the presentation of papers in the form of oral presentations, of approximately 10 minutes, leaving 5 for questions. In addition, posters will be displayed and also presentations by speakers of outstanding national and international careers. At the same time, an exhibition will be set up so that companies, laboratories and institutions associated with this discipline have the opportunity to disseminate their advances and technology, to maintain and expand contacts with attendees.
“Related to cherry trees, research is being carried out in our country on the study and control of Pss (Pseudomonas syringae pv. syringae), viruses, and wood diseases, which is a very popular topic of study today and we hope that these topics will be discussed during the congress,” declared Miryam Valenzuela, Coordinator of the Congress, in conversation with Smartcherry.

Registration is open on the site www.congresosochifit2022.cl and are divided into two stages: until September 30, the prices will range from $50,000 for undergraduate and graduate students, and $210,000 for the general public, with preferential prices for Sochifit members. From October 1, prices will range from $70,000 to $230,000.
«We want to meet again. We want to take advantage of the fact that this Congress is 100% in person, since the last one, which was at the beginning of this year, was held in a hybrid format. We invite everyone to participate in this event that strengthens ties between all the actors, since by collaborating with each other we will be able to overcome the complex challenges we face today,» Valenzuela concluded.
The Congress venue will be the main building of the Federico Santa María Technical University, located at Avenida España 1680, Valparaíso.
