UNITEC: Innovation for 100 years and counting

At Fruit Logistica, the UNITEC Group presents its latest solutions for the sector Research and experimentation continue non-stop, with a strong connection to the market.

It was in 1924 that the first Dalle Vacche sorting machines appeared in Massa Lombarda. UNITEC has its roots in this historic company, through the integration of new business experiences, which is immediately characterised by the development and application of new non-destructive technologies for the quality classification of fruit and vegetables, with the aim of providing concrete answers to meet the real demands of fruit and vegetable companies. This is where the company's mission comes from, clearly stated in the pay-off: “we work for your results”, which indicates the company's strong connection with customer needs, deploying all available knowledge and seeking out what is missing to advance the market.

This is the continuation of a path that began in the 1920s with Dalle Vacche, made up of analysis, research, experimentation and guided by a manic passion for concreteness and the drive for perfection, where results for customers are the ultimate goal.

100 years of relentless innovation in the selection and classification of internal and external quality of fruit and vegetables and in all other processing phases in fruit and vegetable plants, constantly devising the most modern technologies for the development of exclusive UNITEC solutions.
This is an important goal, which frames the Group's participation in the Berlin fair, but which is only the first turning point and projects the company into the future, following its innovative vocation, which is currently represented by the opportunities that robotics offers to the sector, from the field to the point of sale, including fruit and vegetable plants. UNITEC has already successfully ventured into more than 50 fruit and vegetable species and is already preparing to face the next challenges, relying on the know-how acquired over time.

“A hundred years is an age that makes you think of being old, but that is not the case for us” – declared Angelo Benedetti, President of UNITEC. – “The average age of the UNITEC Team is 35 years old and the inspiration and encouragement that our Clients around the world give us with confidence every day are, for us, an elixir of life, since we are very often able to form partnerships that bring them concrete benefits and for us this is the most positive energy that fuels us to look forward to the next 100 years. Thank you! Thank you! To every Client who has trusted us over the last 100 years.”

At Fruit Logistica 2024, the UNITEC Group will be showcasing some of its solutions at three stands dedicated to its different specialties.

UNITEC – Hall 4.1 / A-10
UNI Smart Tray Filler

Automatic filler that allows packaging different varieties of fruit such as peaches, nectarines and apples in trays or in trays inside boxes.
The fruit is picked and deposited in trays using an innovative robot with pick and place function, which can adjust the pick and deposit coordinates based on the calibre and size of the packaging being processed.

UNICAL 200 Cherry: Cherry Vision 3.5 Ai
Cherry Vision 3.5 Ai is UNITEC's innovative technological solution that, thanks to the use of cutting-edge Artificial Intelligence models and thanks to UNITEC's strong connection to the global cherry industry, allows for the careful recognition of recent cuts and cracks in cherries.
Cherry Vision 3.5 Ai is the solution, developed entirely in UNITEC's research and development department, that can help fruit and vegetable plants especially in very rainy seasons.

UNICAL 222 Berry
UNITEC's stand will showcase its blueberry quality sorting technology, equipped with the Blueberry Vision 3 and UNIQ Blueberry systems, capable of scanning each blueberry at 360°, for an even better, more precise and reliable external and internal quality sorting, in order to assess the organoleptic characteristics of this fruit, fully safeguarding its integrity.

UNIQ solutions for internal quality classification dedicated to each fruit
Many innovations in internal quality grading systems, with systems entirely implemented by the company's R&D department, dedicated to specific fruits in the UNIQ range (UNIQ Kiwi, UNIQ Apples, UNIQ Peach, UNIQ Plum, UNIQ Blueberry, UNIQ Cherry, UNIQ Apricot, UNIQ Melon, UNIQ Pomegranate, UNIQ Cherry Tomato, UNIQ Pears, UNIQ Avocados, UNIQ Onions, UNIQ Dates, etc.).

UNICAL 222 HAZELNUT
UNITEC has also developed solutions for sorting hazelnuts with the Hazelnut Vision system, which provides significant advantages in the processing and quality classification of hazelnuts (in shell, shelled raw, shelled roasted), detecting defects in addition to shape, size and colour.

UNISORTING – Hall 4.1 / A-20

  • UNI INTELLIGENT PACK DATESRobotic solution that can pack dates in baskets. The fully automatic system increases efficiency in the packaging phase and allows labour costs to be considerably optimised and thus drastically reduced.
  • UNI FLOW GENTLE PACKER
This is Unisorting's patented solution that maximises the efficiency and capacity of automatic apple packing, thanks to a continuous and gentle transfer of the fruit to the trays. All this while preserving the integrity of each fruit by using specific, extremely delicate suction cups.UNI ROBOTICS – Hall 4.1 / B-10

UNI SMART PAL ROBOT (robotic cell for automatic and efficient palletizing)

A solution that maximises end-of-line efficiency and power. Thanks to its anthropomorphic robots, it can palletise multiple formats without any mechanical adjustment. It can compose different types of mosaic, even different patterns on the same pallet, in order to improve its stability.
