Last days! Take advantage of the holidays and participate in the 2024 Stories of Our Earth contest

Competition closing date: June 27.

LThe invitation is for girls, boys, young people and adults from all over the country to be inspired by the rural world and send their works to the contest through the website www.historiasdenuestratierra.cl. There will be national and regional awards, as well as prizes for the schools and teachers with the greatest participation.

Winter holidays are a great opportunity to spend time with family and travel around our country, as well as experience more deeply our traditions and the richness of the rural world.

For this reason, the invitation is to take advantage of these days of rest and capture those experiences, stories and experiences in drawings, tales and poems, and participate in the Historias de Nuestra Tierra 2024 contest, a traditional competition of the Ministry of Agriculture organized by the Foundation for Communications, Training and Culture of Agriculture (FUCOA), which is in the final stretch of its call until June 27.

“We invite you to be inspired by the rural world, let your creativity flow and share the landscapes, myths and legends that surround you through your works. Historias de Nuestra Tierra is more than a contest; it is an initiative that highlights our roots and an opportunity for each participant to share their unique vision. Regardless of whether we come from the city or the countryside, everyone can share and contribute to this cultural heritage linked to the countryside, to our roots.”, highlighted the executive director of FUCOA, Claudio Urtubia.

The competition has three categories: Short Story (general public), Poem (general public) and Drawing (primary and secondary school students). The Short Story and Poem categories have national and regional awards. Meanwhile, the prizes for the Drawing category are national.

By simply participating in the competition, you are automatically nominated for the special awards “Indigenous Peoples”, “Traditional Cuisine”, “Rural Teacher”, “Lifetime Achievement”, “Rural Woman”, “Young Talent” and “Myth and Legend”.

Among the prizes for children and young people there will be notebooks, tablets, bicycles and writing sets, while the winning adults will receive up to half a million pesos. Special prizes will also be awarded to those teachers who promote the participation of their students in the Short Story category, as well as to the educational establishments with the greatest participation. On the other hand, it is worth noting that FUCOA annually publishes the book Anthology, which includes all the winning works from each version of the contest.

Works can be submitted through the website www.historiasdenuestratierra.cl, where the contest rules are available, as well as previous results, the gallery of winners, educational material and more information.
