Over the weekend, and due to the paralysis of transporters, two ships set sail with between 30% and 50% of their loading capacity, respectively.
The Government, through the Undersecretary of the Interior, Manuel Monsalve, confirmed an agreement with the National Confederation of Cargo Transporters (CNTC) and the Federation of Truck Owners of the Valparaíso region (FEDEQUINTA), who withdrew from the truckers' strike.
Monsalve, in an interview with T13, mentioned that “During the day on Monday, we did not have any total road closures. Most trucks remained on the shoulder and in some places, there were partial road closures that were cleared.”
In the event that the truckers' strike continues, the Association of Fruit Exporters of Chile AG (Asoex) announced that the harvests could be suspended.
"The strike continues and the fruit is still waiting," said Iván Marambio, president of Asoex.
It is also worth mentioning that two fruit vessels left over the weekend with a 30% and a 50% cargo, respectively.
