MIP Agro celebrated 20 years of improving crop quality

MIP Agro, a company dedicated to the import, development and marketing of agricultural inputs, organic and with Zero Waste technology, has turned 20 years old. The company is a partner and representative in Chile of the Rovensa Group, the absolute leader in Biostimulants, and a company linked to Idai Nature and Grupo Agrotecnología.

«We have been in business for 20 years since the company was opened, and we have been in the field of Zero Waste inputs for 16 years. Initially, they were organic, but we have changed because the market is moving towards Zero Waste due to restrictions that exist today. Our contribution to agriculture is to provide a non-chemical solution with results similar to chemical ones, which today is a great alternative for fruit growers who are currently facing many restrictions on exports. Thank God, we have done well, we are very well positioned in the market, so the idea is to continue growing, strongly, as we have done to this day., explained Sebastian Jimenez, General Manager of MIP Agro.

The celebration took place on August 20 at a grand party held at the Los Lirios Golf Club in Requinoa, in the O'Higgins region.

«In these 20 years that are being celebrated in 2022, it is a source of pride for the company to show a philosophy of agricultural solutions that is very particular. Although today there may be more on offer, the concept with which it started was to generate solutions, to develop Zero Waste products for Chile, that is the hallmark of MIP Agro; it started, initially, with another area, but always looking for health, sanitation with low residues, how important it is in the fruit that we consume in Chile, but above all in the fruit that is exported to the rest of the world, that is the great contribution of MIP Agro in these 20 years and we continue to generate solutions», said the company's Operations Manager, Aníbal Lazo.

The event brought together members of MIP Agro, who celebrated these 20 years of the company; Mónica Martínez, Commercial Manager for the North Center, referred to the contribution in these two decades and highlighted the importance of "to deliver excellent products of very good quality that work, and to demonstrate to agriculture that the Zero Waste product is a product that can be used and that works just like traditional ones."

Over the years, MIP Agro has been known for offering innovative solutions for plant development, protection and nutrition, focused on improving crop quality.

«We now have biofungicides, biopesticides with SAG registration and many products positioned for soil amendments and foliar fertilization. In recent years we have hired advanced human capital personnel and we have positioned ourselves as a company that prioritizes the hiring of zonal and technical sales. I believe that MIP Agro's leadership lies in the company's desire to understand the functions of plants and position itself in the Zero Waste market as a contribution to the conventional agriculture that exists today.» said Andrés Leiva, Head of R&D at MIP Agro.

Jaime Toro, Technical Chief of the Northern Zone, said:«I think it is important for a company to reach 20 years of age, not all companies achieve this goal. In these 20 years, MIP Agro has contributed a great deal of knowledge and products for agriculture, mainly in the area of Zero Waste, an area that has seen notable development in recent years, especially considering the health of the population and the health of the food we consume. It is a company that has been growing steadily over time and providing healthy and clean solutions throughout these 20 years.»

Just as the company turned 20, there are others who did the same with it. This is the case of Carlos Pavez, Agricultural Manager, who has been with MIP Agro for two decades: «I started out with tomatoes, then with some insects to control pests, then with pollinating bumblebees and then with the range of organic inputs and now we also have an agricultural part of the company. It has been 20 very good years, I have had a great time at work, good bosses, and it has grown enormously, it has grown a lot every year. I think that the contribution of MIP Agro has been the best thing that could happen to us here in Chile, since they are organic products, we are not damaging the environment. I think that MIP Agro has been a great contribution to the country, apart from that we have been pioneers in biological control, in addition to the whole range of inputs that the company has.»

Guests and MIP Agro

The event for the 20th anniversary of MIP Agro also included the participation of special guests and prominent advisors in fruit growing. One of them was Carolina Cruz, Advisor on table grapes, President of Uvanova and Director of the National Society of Agriculture: «I am happy, but happy to be sharing with all the people from MIP Agro, great friends, great collaborators who support the industry; the truth is that seeing companies that started out small and today have a tremendous development and contribution to modern times, a company that strives to go in the direction of sustainability, of supporting farmers, of having a cleaner agriculture, so that we can live better in these complex times for agriculture. It is truly a tremendous joy, I hope they continue to develop with great strength, with great joy, we need more companies like MIP Agro, and I always wish them the best of success today.»

Walter Masman, a specialist advisor on cherries and stone fruits, also gave a message to MIP Agro on this important anniversary; he highlighted the company's commitment to the environment and being an example for other large companies on the Zero Waste issue: "It is the revolution, practically the first company from the Zero Waste point of view, to worry about something that is absolutely in vogue today, so I think that this is the first contribution to the industry from a company that started in a very small way and that today has a very large, very powerful team, I think that this is MIP Agro's contribution to the industry."

Also present were Enrique Rosales, Citrus and Avocado Advisor, and Carlos Donoso, Technical Head of Export Production at Greenex, who spoke about the anniversary and the contribution that MIP Agro has made to the national agroindustry.

«Nowadays, when we have market restrictions, having alternatives like MIP Agro that allow us to have Zero Waste products is very important, even more so today when, for example, in Europe they require some registrations, some products, to have Zero Waste products and you can harvest having applied 24 hours before, for us it is wonderful», Donoso said.

For his part, Rosales pointed out that MIP Agro is "A great contribution to the topic of Zero Waste, perhaps as visionaries because today agriculture, the topic of pest management, the use of pesticides, has everything from the use of soft products, to the non-use of pesticides and the use of products that are much more friendly to the environment."So, 20 years ago it was certainly much more visionary than it is today, when it is more common," the advisor concluded.

Rodrigo Hernández, Brand Manager of M&V, who has known the company for 10 years and has worked with them for 3, highlighted the penetration that it has had in the market: «Today the Zero Waste brand was established by MIP Agro in the market and today you see that all the agrochemical companies are launching products and putting Zero Waste products on the market», Hernandez concluded.

MIP Agro, pioneers in Chile in Zero Waste products, has just turned 20 years old, two decades in which its main mission has been "To improve the agricultural sector by achieving modern and sustainable agriculture, offering innovative solutions for plant protection and nutrition focused on improving the quality of crops, while respecting the environment and the needs of producers and consumers as much as possible."
