The Seremi of Agriculture, Ana Muñoz, and the Regional Coordinator of the National Irrigation Commission (CNR), Claudio Cortés, invited the irrigators of Maule to participate in the special competition for forest fires for those whose technologically advanced irrigation systems were affected.
Following the announcement made at the national level by the CNR to generate special competitions for the regions affected by forest fires in the south-central part of the country, and by rains and avalanches in the far north, the regional authorities specified in which instances the Maule irrigators can participate and invited them to approach their consultants to present projects.
The Seremi of Agriculture, Ana Muñoz and the Regional Coordinator of CNR, Claudio Cortes, explained that for the Maule region there is the option of applying for the special technical competition that has reserved $300 million for the Maule territory, of the total of $4.000 million available for all the affected regions.
The Seremi explained that “This summer we have had a very critical situation with the fires from Maule to Araucanía. Our region in particular has suffered less than the neighbouring ones further south, but we have still been affected and this is a rapid response from the CNR to address one of the consequences of the fires, which is the damage to farmers’ irrigation systems. We are providing an alternative for consultants and farmers to submit their projects to address this emergency.”
Claudio Cortés reported that with regard to this special call, the projects that can be presented must not exceed 600 UF, around 21 million pesos. "These may be works to repair and rehabilitate systems damaged by fires, both for projects that have already been subsidized and for others that have not yet received this support through the Irrigation Law."
He clarified that the region cannot participate in the special civil works competition since no damages were reported in this type of works as a result of the fires.
Regarding deadlines, it was indicated that projects can be submitted until 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, March 29, 2023 (end of application), only through the software of Law No. 18,450 available at the link "Electronic Application Law 18,450" on the CNR website. www.cnr.gob.cl.
The authorities reported that in addition to these two special competitions, the CNR is injecting an extra $4,000 million in different competitions of the normal calendar of the Law for the Promotion of Irrigation focused on the process of economic reactivation: "We will address the emergency but also continue to promote the productive development of the territories through irrigation," added the Seremi, Ana Muñoz.
